This is incorrect as the brackets are, in fact, made from painted die-cast metal. All black parts (other than the plastic turn wheels and end inserts) are made from painted metal. Both blue supports are made from sturdy plastic. Obviously, whilst the metal itself is unlikely to be damaged by a soldering iron the painted finish is likely to be more susceptible to some degree of damage or marking so, in order to preserve the pristine look of your jig, touching it with a soldering iron is not recommended. That said, I consider this an exceptional product for the price as PCB jigs of this kind from other manufacturers can cost many times more. As the maximum width of PCB is 23cm it is probable that most PCB's should fit in this jig. Due to the easy adjustment for width and tilt of the PCB it can make working on boards much easier than on a worktop as the board is kept still and sturdy. Removal of through-hole components is much easier as simultaneous access to both sides of the board is made possible. Review: Very useful tool - Having seen these for a while at much more money I was happy to get one for only a few pounds. The tool appears the same as the much more expensive versions. The base is metal and nice and sturdy. The blue uprights are plastic which might be an ESD thing but metal would have been nice but I suppose would have added to the price. Clamping is via small thumb screws which are on opposite sides and so a little fiddly but manageable. In use the tool makes soldering PCBs far easier than helping hands or just leaving it on the table. You get good access and you can have the board just how you need it to get to solder/desolder a connection. However, I would recommend clamping the two blue posts together, as they are prone to sliding under pressure. The minimum holding width is just over 7mm, where the clamps will be touching each other. There's approximately a 3mm groove in each of them. **Q: Would this pcb holder be suitable for holding a cree star led?** A: Hi This is essentially a small vice that enables the user to securely hold printed circuit boards and rotate them for inspection/repair/ & building up. I cannot say it wont do as you ask ,but would point out that its intended purpose is primarily for circuit boards and the slotted jaws are sized to suit. Hope this helps. **Q: Is there a minimum PCB holding size?** A: It’s a great bit of kit, I wish I had bought one sooner. The smallest PCB I use is 15mm x 50mm and it copes well with that. Don’t forget that the end supports are 3mm deep at each end so you have 6mm total that is not exposed, but you can turn the board through 90deg. if you need to. Smallest board to work sensibly I would say is maybe 15mm x 15mm. Brilliant tool for the money and would certainly recommend it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ good holder for smaller board however, tightness could have been better. *by A***S on 8 April 2024* BURNTEC PCB Holder Clamp This replaced my old one that got nicked while on a job. i need something small yet portable to do smaller jobs. This worked very well was easy to setup and put together the rubber feet on the bottom where good enough that the unit doesn't move around however i use this on a soldering mat that way any residue from flux or drops of solder falls onto the mat and not onto a counter. The frame is metal and is really sturdy this will not break or bend at all while working even if you use a heat gun for certain components. The clamps are plastic and the board locks into position with a groove cutout in the middle this does a good job in holding the board in place while doing the job and so not needing a second hand. The clamp even when tighten the screw i could still on occasion tight the board it a small issue and you can work around this possibly without be a little heavy handed yet does the job its intended to do.
