Review: Warm and tasty and not too spicy on my un-initiated British palate - I bought this so I could cook some authentic tteokbokki and other Korean dishes, as I was watching Bon Appetite, Your Majesty and Business Proposal and the food looked really tasty. There isn't a Korean restaurant around here and I love to cook, so I have little choice but to make it myself. It's a very warm kind of heat, it's quite spicy, I use one heaped teaspoon in the recipe I found (500g of ricecakes), and I like mild to medium heat so it was at my limit, but then it dies away and leaves a tingling heat behind, that compliments the other flavours bringing them out. My first try didn't go all that well as I used the wrong rice cakes, but second time around was amazing. I also add it to my Chili too to give it a little Korean twist. Going to add a little bit to my next K-recipe I'm attempting tonight: Bibimbap. Presented nicely in a sturdy tub, though the whole lid pops off when opening, but that's not really an issue for me. My English tastes buds really enjoyed this.

**Q: Once opened are you supposed to store in the fridge and does anyone know how long you can store it once opened**
A: After opening I store it in the fridge and have used it after storing it this way for twelve months without any harmful effects. The product is fermented in production which helps to preserve it. Incidentally it is a great product and I recommend it.

**Q: Is this paste gluten free?thank you**
A: I cannot see in photo or have ever heard of wheat in this product, ingredient photo does NOT show wheat, basically it is chilli and fermented soy bean, google it and see how it is made by families in Korea.  Age is quality when homemade.

**Q: Does this product containany form of alcohol? As korean pepper paste usually contains some sort of alcohol such as rice wine, ethanol or red wine etc?**
A: it does contain alcohol but only a very small amount 3% spirits which I assume would evaporatevwhen cooked.

**Q: is it vegetarian**
A: Yes, just looked at ingredients and no animal products. Soy, syrup, chillies, oil etc.

You can add this to lots of recipes. Makes great sticky chicken. Only annoying thing is it came without a lid (as in the picture) only film. Which makes it difficult to store in the fridge. Other reviewer's have said the same.
