Now the true journey has begun.
Heartache awaits anyone racing this chapter. I feel the story is only just beginning now. You see some great drawings in this manga, some panels were truly dwelled on to make the reader feel uncomfortable..

"Is this hell?! Did we sin that much?!"
This is what fans were waiting for, the volume that makes everything come together. Now we finally understand Guts behavior when we first met him in volume 1, as the Black Swordsman, and we also get to find out how he lost his arm and why he hates Griffith. This volume almost feels like a rebirth of all the main characters, since they suffer a transformation that is so drastic, that it is hard to picture it by using a different metaphor. The level of violence is at an all-time high, but once again, there is a clear purpose behind it, and in this case it comes with an important psychological aspect. You could almost say that Guts undergoes a proficient psychological torture. The nature of the action also permits Miura to showcase his talents, since the complexity of the drawings, and the level of details they require, are astounding and must have taken a huge amount of time to achieve. This volume also contains the scenes that are seen at the end of the anime, but it also goes way beyond that. I recommend those people that want to see what happens after the anime, to start the manga from the beginning anyway, since there are many novel elements in the previous volumes. I am looking forward to the next installment, since Guts starts on his new journey, one that promises to be full of action, violence, and hateful vengeance!

Wow ๐ ๐
Again just another top notch volume in this story. To see what has happened since the last volume, it's by far one of the lowest points in the story and then seeing how everything went down with Griffith and to know the fate of so many and to see what remains, who remains, how much damage has been done, it was one of the more sad parts of the series for me, but also just the pain and suffering Casca has gone through and Guts, just the entire scope of everything that's happend leading up to this point and how much more it's magnified now. Also I hope they explain WHY Griffith did what he did and I don't mean to the band of the hawk but the whole thing with sleeping with the kings daughter and all the stuff that followed, did he give up cause Guts left? Did he just not think anything would happen or he wouldn't have been caught? Did he need to go through that to be reborn and if so, why have the bathelmet taken away, just alot id like to see explained as to why he did this 1 thing that seemed so outta character and essentially let himself be taken, I just didn't understand it. Its not anything major just for me something I was thinking about but in no way does it change how I feel about this story and how amazing it's been.
