Then you are able to open the larger glass side on bottom and will open empty . They should have but arrows on sharpener to explain hope it helps . **Q: Can this be used to sharpen lip crayons?** A: It will sharpen lip crayons, Its the best make up sharpener I've ever used! **Q: Does this work on the barry m large eyeshadow pencil?** A: Yes asvit has two holes one either end small and large. **Q: if it could be used in nars velvet lip pencil?** A: Unlikely. Look for a sharpener that has a chunky “lip” around the larger hole - this should be a pull-out plug that allows one more size larger, so it cuts three sizes of pencil instead of two. The Estée Lauder sharpener works on all Nars pencils because it has the plug, and it looks like the much-cheaper Tweezerman might too. If you look at photos of those, you’ll see what I mean about the adapter plug. Tip: put the pencil in the fridge for a couple of hours to get a better cut. Has the two typical sizes for small and large pencils. I've sharpened a few of things and it's really smooth when sharpening. I like that you can see exactly how much is sharpening through the clear case so you can stop if you don't want a long point (my last one was black so you had to keep taking the pencil out which could make the pencil unevenly sharpened) . It has an unusual plastic 'rocker' that makes where the point of the pencil will stop when sharpened long or short. I've only used it on short and even then I stop before it reaches it so not sure how useful it is. It also has a pick stored inside to pull any clumped make up out which is useful! My cons are: the plastic ends which cover the sharpening holes seem as if they could snap off after lots of use.
