Dried Chilli - Aleppo Pepper Chilli Flakes 100g (pul Biber)

I had a recipe that called for aleppo pepper, but since I didn't have any, I subbed in more common flaked red pepper (but only a quarter of it, in accordance with the suggestion in the recipe). It was a great dish, but I decided to consider adding aleppo to my Ocado order to see what the difference was, but it was £6.99 for 18g! I checked amazon and saw the great reviews and price for this one, and ordered it straight away. It has minimal packaging, which I love and when it arrived I put it in a lidded jar. The first time I used it, I loved it! It has a very soft heat - not at all aggressive, and it doesn't build up on your tongue so that you feel you have something quite spicy at the end of the meal. It added a fantastic dimension to our recipe, and although at first I thought it would take ages to get through 100g, I'm re-ordering just a few weeks later so I am not without it. I find myself using it in all sorts of things. I'm glad I decided to try it - it's much better than the flaked red pepper.

Bought these to make Turkish eggs at home, they add a great flavour to the dish. Well worth it.

Slight rancidity. It would have been amazing if it were fresher and better packed. Great, really amazing flavour. The heat is mild enough that even my children love it on chicken.

I ordered this after seeing Nigella Lawson use Aleppo pepper in some recipes on her most recent show. OH MY WORD. This little spice has transformed my cooking and I use it in so many things - eggs, stews, soups, pasta sauces, even sprinkled on avocado on toast. Such a pleasant kick (not hot at all) with a zingy lemon flavour coming through. I have found that even those who are normally chilli averse will quite a like a sprinkle of these in a dish. I will be reordering this, no question. A must-have!

A tad hotter than expected but the flavour more than makes up for that....also I think I am a chilli coward. The item, "Syrian Aleppo Pepper" is well worth the price I paid, and decanted into a clear air tight jar it looks the biz amongst my spices.... Tried in a recipe I usually use supermarket own chilli flakes in.... the Syrian Aleppo Pepper made the meal...totally lifts from ordinary to extra yummy. Will buy again and recommend for that extra flavoursome kick.

I like the Taste of chilli but don’t really want my head blown off. After travelling in southern India a lot you appreciate the difference. Taste versus heat. These chilli flakes are about the best I’ve ever come across. Making a chilli con carn? Add them quite liberally without setting you mouth on fire. Make it fairly mild so the grandson can enjoy it but then (and here’s the brilliant part) add a big pinch in your’s at the table. Lunch? Tin of bake beans on toast plus big pinch of flakes! Again, best I’ve ever had.

Not too fierce a heat, there is subtle layers of flavour this wonderful spice gives nearly every dish you can think of. A teaspoon transforms with added depth of taste. Deliciousness even for the faint hearted.
