After hearing so many good reviews I finally decided to buy this product. I knew to look for black soap that's made with natural ingredients which I'd like to believe this one is.I bought this after I had the worst breakout I've ever had (around Christmas). Arrived before it was meant to which is an added bonus. However after using it about 5 times with a spin brush it dried out my skin so much that my skin was red raw and peeling. I stopped using it and put on thick layers of moisturiser (like a face mask) and that got my skin back to being hydrated. Although I got rid of the dryness my face was still red for a month or so after that incident.Since then I've added it gradually back into my skin care routine by letting it sud up and only use my hands to rub it into my face (I do recommend cleaning your face with a spin brush before though) It leaves your skin squeaky clean after washing but it can sting when using it but you do get used to it after a week. By the first couple of days using it this way I started to notice a difference in my "acne". I would strongly recommend this soap/meathod to anyone who has sensitive skin like me if they are looking for a way to clear their skin.

I use natural products that I make myself and this soap.Been using it for I think just under two years. It is fantastic. I have used other brands before I discovered this one, but since this one, have never looked back.When you first use it, it is very drying and I found it really did sting my face until I got used to it. It leaves your skin “squeaky” clean. Literally. You really need a very good moisturiser after.Thank you Shea Life!

Really great black soap in its natural state. This is the second time I've purchased this brand's black soap, and we've been using black soap as a body wash exclusively for several years now because it's eco-friendly, feels very nice, is much less drying than standard soap, and is very economical. To the uninitiated, it takes a little getting used to: the consistency is thicker than set honey (though unlike honey is stable across typical household temperatures), so to use it you have to scoop a finger in.Because of this, it's not ideal for use as hand soap (we've tried various ways to make it viable, such as moving a small amount to a storage container, etc) because you would just keep contaminating it; it will also, like any natural product, grow mould if you let water sit in it/on its surface.We've therefore taken to using castile soap diluted with water in a foaming container for hand soap, and we use this as a body wash in the shower. Here's what we do: with clean, dry hands, scoop out a small amount (even with hard water like ours, you won't need more than about the size of a thumbnail, but of course your mileage may vary) onto a clean washcloth (we use those thin scratchy shower scrub towels from Muji, which foam up fantastically). It will foam very well just in your hands or washcloth, but you get lovely fluffy suds if you use a scrubbing shower towel (as above) or a bath puff.Used this way, a small (250g) tub should last two people several months. It doesn't irritate my very reactive skin, but I can't use it on my face because it contains tea tree oil and this exacerbates my rosacea (again, this totally depends on your skin). This isn't made particularly clear in the description at time of writing, and could therefore be a nasty surprise for anyone with a known allergy, as tea tree oil is not normally found in black soap. I've used African black soap without tea tree oil in the past on my face, and that was fine. Unfortunately Shea Life only make a tea tree version (could we gently request a tea tree oil-free version for those of us with sensitive skin?) but it's still the nicest black soap we've been able to easily source at a reasonable price in the UK.The colour is more dark brown than black, and doesn't stain anything. The scent is natural and slightly woodsy, with a hint of a tea tree in this case; it's nicely unisex, very mild, and doesn't leave any discernible scent on the skin.

Got it as treatment for eczema for my 8 yr old daughter. She's had eczema since she was 6 months old. Tried the Pine soap, emu oil soap as well as quite a few others. This Soap does sting a little where she's scratched a lot so at the moment only using it as a shampoo as she's had a very dry scalp. The soap has moisturised it beyond what we expected, healed her scalp, and got rid of the flaky skin bits in her hair. really really love it for it's healing properties.

I have bought a large tub from this company and it lasted me a year and still kept it’s solid form. This time it went watery within 2 weeks so the product didn’t last as long as I would have liked. Going back to using the solid bars

I’m a young black lady and I have very sensitive skin , my skin flakes and I have discolouration and black spots. It’s only been a few days since I started using it and let me tell you it’s so amazing , at first it was tingly I think my skin was just getting used to it , I use it with a gentle face scrub then steam my face after with lemon drops essence , all I can say is wow I haven’t worn make up since then my skin feels so smooth.

I have bought this soap and l have been using Black soap for many years but due to myself finding out more via research about the dangers of heart related diseases and Palm oil being one of the oils that causes this and seeing that this soap although has a nice lemon type fragrance does not show that it has Palm Oil as an ingredient inside the soap in the description on Amazon but is bright and bold on the packaging when it arrived shows it is being hidden in the description for a reason. Palm Oil is toxic over time in the human body STAY CLEAR OF IT !!! I will never buy this again !

Very bad smell

Certainly cleans my skin. Haven’t seen a difference in my pigmentation but Love the clean feeling. It stung first day but after that it didn’t. Container was larger than I thought

This soap produces soo mush suds. I love it. Definitely leaves your skin feeling clean and smelling clean. No weird smells from this soap just a clean scent.

I've only been using this for 3 days, but so far so good. My skin is responding really good to it. I was worried because a few buyers said they developed burns from the products. I have really sensitive skin and I usually can't handle something like Black soap, but like I said, so far so good. We shall see what happens over the next few days/weeks.I give it 4 stars for now because I haven't used it long enough to see the true results.

This product makes me feel clean. It came right on time. I would recommend this to anyone dealing with breakouts. It has helped me. It will dry your skin up but just moisturize and you will be fine.

It’s a great deep cleaner. But a bit harsh hence a burning sensation from keeping it on areas for too long. Great for a once in a while use. But everybody’s body may respond differently so warning ⚠️ there.
