Cuplex Verruca Gel, 5gm

Hi! I hope all my experiences written below will help someone!!Two things you will read in other reviews and are NOT TRUE:1. It is painful - no, it is not. It is the only product I tried that was completely pain-free, which is amazing. (I tried two acidic drops that literally burned a hole in my palm but did not effect the verruca.) Read the reviews, one guy even used this on his junk - still, no pain.2. It's not working - for some, it takes only 4 days, for most it is 2 or 3 weeks, but it can take up to 6 weeks. I have been using it for months now, the verruca has shrunk a lot, DO NOT GIVE UP. Be persistent, it's worth it.The instructions are ridiculously easy to follow: soak the verruca in water for at least 3 mins, dry it and apply the cream once a day, before going to bed. Remove the dried layer next night before repeating the whole process. If someone can't do that, sure, it's not gonna work and this is on them.Be careful though, as it really does destroy healthy skin and is hard to apply only on the verruca, as it becomes smaller. You can use vaseline for extra protection.It is essentially important that you DO need to cut the skin around the verruca. I did not know that and it made the whole area very swollen, but by cutting it around, it actually calmes the skin and it will make the verruca shrink.The internet is full of advices on home remedies you could use - I tried a lot and they either did not work or proved to be incredibly painful (as well). Garlic under duct tape is a very bad idea. Banana peel did not seem to work. Duct tape works for some but if it's on your hand, you can't seal it properly so air gets through and others will see it. :S Vinegar can mess up your skin badly, but I do recommend it.Here's what I did:Used the cream daytime (yes, for many of us this works way better! this way your skin is protected against bacteria during the day, and at nighttime it can calm down and breathe. You can then review the results in the morning.) For weeks now, I soak it in a water-vinegar 50/50 solution. Put it in a bottle with a very small opening, turned it upside down, so only the verruca gets it (into the face, yo!). Ten minutes a day, before bedtime. It helps, but every now and then you need to skip a day or two and let the skin calm.One more important thing: if your skin doesn't calm down, still puffy and inflamed after two days of rest - soak a cotton ball in Betadine and cover with surgical tape so it can breathe overnight. Works every time!I think this is the only product out there that really does work. Order at least two, it's good to have one in the cabinet anyway, but probably will need it. The only downside of the product is that one fourth of it (when you used up, that's what remains inside) goes to the bin as you won't be able to push it out directly to the effected area. That's a lot of waste. Apart from that - brilliant product for the price.

I've been putting off writing this review because I knew it would take some time to write but here goes... I know what a nuisance verrucas are and maybe this might be useful for someone else - maybe we can rid the world of these horrors once and for all!!This Cuplex gel definitely gets rid of verrucas. Both my daughter and my son have had them and after spending a fortune on loads of different home remedies for my daughter I then took her to a chiropodist and had them frozen - she screamed in pain and begged me not to take her back. I did, one more time because she really wanted them gone but I couldn't bear to see her in such discomfort.Then I used banana skin on her which did work - but I'll come back to that in a minute. Before buying this I had also used many other over-the-counter products, gaffa tape, vinegar, plasters, natural herbal remedies, vitamins... the list is endlessI am not medically trained but this is what I found out... For this to work you have to use it properly - it actually pulls the verruca's 'root's to the surface and kills them but to do that you have to keep removing the skin to expose as much of the verruca as possible. So if you put this on a verruca that has a deep layer of skin over the top it will take longer.I used a corn knife to remove the surface layer of skin but obviously you would only use that if you were familiar with how they work but mainly if you were aware of how incredibly sharp the blades are - you could do a lot of damage to the skin otherwise. If not, use an emery board. Buy a pack of emery boards that have a good rough side and throw each one away after use.This is how I got rid of them...Before starting - put on a pair of thin gloves (like latex gloves that you can buy in a pack) and have some hand gel (the anti-bacterial, quick drying type) nearby and a roll of kitchen towel. I keep all of these things in a separate bag so there's no chance of them being used for anything else.Shower/bath and sit somewhere, protecting the floor/the area beneath your foot with kitchen towel, you need to do everything you can to avoid leaving verruca skin laying around and to protect the carpet/fabrics near you.Straight after your shower/bath (while you're still damp) remove the skin from the top of the verruca by your chosen method then apply the Cuplex gel. Repeat every day - sometimes I even did it twice a day.Verrucas can look different. I totally missed my son's one (which was huge) because it was on the ball of his foot and had some hard skin over it and because I couldn't see the 'pepper-like' roots, I assumed it was just dry skin - I won't make that mistake again. I decided to look into it further and as soon as I removed the hard skin I could see the verruca.Once you've removed as much of the skin over it as you can (or you can bear, if it's painful) then put the gel on and wait for it to dry. It does take longer than it says to dry, so get a book ready or do it in front of the tv! I got my son to lay on his tummy on the floor, reading a book, with his leg resting in my lap.This bit is a bit gross so only read on if you've got a strong stomach... on some occasions when the gel goes on you can actually see the gel pulling the verruca roots out of the skin - at that point you can squeeze the verruca. How long you squeeze for, and how often, depends on how brave the patient is - my 9 year old let me do it a few times because I could show him how well it was working and he knew it meant the verruca would be gone more quickly. You can then wipe it away and do it again... and again... and again. You can see the black substance on the paper.I repeatedly wipe the area with hand gel too - just as an extra precaution.Once you're done, leave the last application to dry on top of the verruca. Repeat. That's the secret - you can't give up. You have to be totally committed to getting rid of them and keep on - I won over 4 verrucas this way.While both children do sports and swimming in public places with bare feet - I check regularly. There's no doubt that if you catch it early they are much easier to get rid of.You don't want this gel touching anything else - it does have an acid base so be careful, but it does work. Neither of my children found it too painful - yes, it hurt at times but they both dealt with it. My daughter was 9 when she had hers and my son is 9 now too and we've just got rid of the last one - HURRAH! It's taken time but we got there..Although this is a tiny tube it lasted the whole time I was treating my son's foot and there's still some left - and I was using it twice a day at times!It's important to note how contagious they are so you do need to ensure that socks are worn constantly (and not swapped or worn twice!) and don't share bath mats and towels etc.The banana method did work on my daughter but only when I had tried so many other methods and I think the timing was right - I tried it with my son and it didn't work so think it's luck of the draw with that.These are just my findings but I can't see why it wouldn't work for anyone else if it works for me - I'd happily answer any questions if you wanted to ask, but like I said earlier, I am not medically trained... just an experienced maternity nurse, nanny and now Mum!Good luck!
