It makes my beard soft to the touch and easy to maintain. I put it on before I go to bed at night and in the morning I rinse it with the shampoo, and ta da! My beard is so soft and pleasant to the touch, like never before. Scent is woody rather than sweet. A small amount of each is enough. Better than using normal hair shampoo on it.
