I have a man drawer with a few spares in that have been charged up so I always have some handy when I need them. Despite lots of devices using Li-Ion batteries these days I've actually found that the number of devices around the house that require AA batteries has increased. Things like digital cameras, remote controls, wireless computer keyboards, wireless mice, console joypads, Oculus Rift/Quest VR controllers, children's toys and even electronic doorbells, to name a few, all still seem to require them. The nice thing about these batteries is that they arrive pre-charged (with solar energy!) so they don't require charging (although I suspect they will not be charged to 100%). They also claim to retain 85% of their change after 12 months if they are not used which is great news for the ones that I have stored in the man drawer. These can also be recharged up to 500 times... if that's true then these are going to last a long time! Length and Diameter, diameter using a micrometer would be best** A: I have some older Eneloop batteries and found that the outer diameter is slightly larger than the alkalines, probably to do with a slightly thicker label. When checked with a digital calliper, the Eneloops were 14.2mm and the alkalines were 14.0mm. The length was about the same, at 50.3mm. I have some Eneloops that I am using in a holder supplied with a set of Christmas lights, the 4 Eneloops do not fit easily inside the case, (which is like a tube), when inserted into the holder, and have to be prised out if pushed in fully, but normal alkaline batteries are a snug fit, and come out easier. **Q: Whats the difference between the black ones and the white ones ?** A: The black ones(The Pro eneloop) have a higher capacity and better in the cold. However, the black ones can only be re-charged 500 times, I think it's about 2000 for the others. However, my experience so far is that very negative, very disappointed in performance.
