Great plane for the money - occasional repair required but still going strong
I got two of these planes off eBay, one each for my two sons (8 and 13) - who love them. For what I paid, they are amazing - two real micro servos for the rudder/flaps and speed control for the tri motor power plant. We've been out about 6 times now to a local park, free of trees etc. On a low/no wind day we get an hours flying time on a charge - not constant flying but an hour of up in the air for 5 mins, crash - up again for a while, they are getting more accomplished so the planes are in the air longer now.If you have some basic model making skills, you could probably perform a few mods - there is someone on Youtube who has replaced the motor unit with a more powerful unit - now does loops without the wind having to be in the right direction. You could also install real hinges on the control surfaces.The plane itself is very lightweight - mostly why it survives hitting tree trunks/the ground so easily. It just bounces off. What you will find is that constant nose impacts will shift the motor assembly in its 'mount' which is really just 3 slots moulded into the polystyrene nose section. I found Gorilla Glue to be great as it expands slightly as it sets - filling any voids. I've got it right on one plane - enough glue and the motor hasn't shifted since. be careful not to let it foul the motors or gears though.Oh - expect the wheels to fall of, particularly the front wheel - some electricians tape over where the wheel slots into the body should mitigate this however.To anyone expecting to buy, fly and then complain when something breaks, be serious - you need SOME model repair skills and realistic expectations. For anyone who just wants a cheap and easy entry into RC Model planes, you cant get any cheaper and this WL Toys Cessna is a lot of fun!
