Best book for kids with new glasses. EVER. Your search for a book relating to needing eye glasses stops here.
This book is so wonderful! SO many children's books geared towards wearing glasses are centered around negativity and overcoming that stigma, so it's turning a negative into a positive. Not this book, and that's what's so great about it. Instead, the plot focuses on how cool glasses are and how the character's best friend has them and thus the main character is jealous and tries to emulate her best friend. It also talks about other differences between the two and how each character admires those differences in each other. Not only does that focus on noticing differences seem important here, but it also does a nice job of illustrating how we all have qualities others wish they had as well, so our differences are all unique. So glad I could find a book that didn't but a negative spin on getting eyeglasses into my little one's impressionable head from the get-go. Instead, a story like this reiterated what we're telling her: Glasses are cool and so is she!

) to stock "The Lions Den" so that these sweet children with vision problems can have a fun space ...
I am a member of the Spartanburg, SC Lions Club. The Lions Clubs in our area of the state worked with the Storm Eye Institute at the Medical University of SC (this is the ophthalmology part of MUSC) to establish a "Lions Den" reading nook in the pediatric waiting room area. The Lions have bought about 100 of these types of books (about 23 different ones--I can't review every one of them...) to stock "The Lions Den" so that these sweet children with vision problems can have a fun space of their own to enjoy books that relate to their vision problems while they are waiting to see their vision specialist. Just an awesome selection of books! Thanks so much to the authors for making these books available for these children!!

Glasses are Good!
I love that this book makes my daughter feel special and not embarrassed about wearing glasses. In the majority of the books I've found about getting glasses, most are based on the subject of bullying and teasing kids deal with for wearing glasses, and how some people think it's bad or you look silly when you wear them. I'm sure for older kids in school this is important. Since my daughter is young, 3 1/2, and so far we've avoided any teasing, I've decided to try and focus on the cool aspect of wearing glasses. This book helps reinforce those thoughts. She thinks her glasses are cool and loves them and there is no struggle to keep them on.

Cute book.
Bought this for my 3yr old niece who just got glasses. Love that they use different shades of skin tone and names reflecting more ethnic backgrounds. The story line is cute and the pictures are eye catching. Turns out my niece doesn't have an issue with wearing glasses, she even gave me imaginary glasses as a gift. :)BUT this book helps instill that self confidence even more.

Great book for preschoolers with glasses
My daughter recently had to start glasses. She really enjoys this book. It is easy for a four-year old to understand and enjoy. It helps her be proud of her glasses!

This book is great!
My 2 year old has memorized this book and "reads" it out loud with such pride. She has a lazy eye and wears glasses and this book makes wearing glasses feel so special and enviable!

Cute book for a young child.
Bought this book for our daughter when she got her glasses. While she enjoyed the book, I think it's most appropriate for a younger child than my 7 year old.
