Great camera image and bezel looks just like it came from the factory on my truck. Possible camera alignment problems.
I installed this backup camera on my 2011 Silverado and it works just fine. The picture was clear on my aftermarket monitor/rearview mirror that I already had installed and was using a license plate mounted camera that worked quite well except I did not have as precise depth perception as I will with this camera since it mounts up higher on the truck allowing a more doward view instead of being almost level with the hitch ball like my license plate mounted camera was. I had my other camera that I paid much less for about 2 years and it was working fine but the housing was faded from the sun and looking rough. The tailgate handle bezel fit perfectly and it was relatively easy to install but you will need the proper tools, like a torx bit to remove the rear spoiler to gain access to the inside of the tailgate to fish the wire, a hole saw or large drill bit to drill a hole in the bottom of the tailgate and back panel of the bed to run the wire through. This is a good deal considering a factory backup camera like this is over $700 from GM.Revision; When I went to hook up my trailer using this new backup camera, (which was the primary motivation to get a backup camera to begin with and I have been using a license plate mounted camera for many years but wanted this camera because of the cleaner OEM look) I found that I was having a lot of trouble lining the trailer ball up with the hitch which has never been the case before with my other backup cameras, turns out that the camera I got was not aligned exactly level in the housing which made the guidelines to be unparalleled to the truck (and I don't mean off center, which they will be off center since the camera is not mounted in the center) but because of that as crazy as it sounds, I had a really hard time backing up and lining the ball up exactly in front of the hitch and since my trailer tongue weights 200 plus lbs. it has to be exactly lined up or you are not going to be able to connect the hitch. I took the camera back off and was able to rotate the camera slightly in the tailgate handle bezel it's mounted in and achieve the proper alignment of the camera. Unless you are trying to hook up a trailer as I was you might not notice this right away or maybe mine issue is a isolated issue but if you experence the same problem now you know how to correct it.

Good picture quality, good fit. Would buy another.
The backup camera worked as expected, and fit correctly. My primary reason for purchasing was for hooking up to trailers easier, and I can see my entire 2" ball in the screen, so I'm happy. I wish there was a way to fine-tune the aiming of the camera, as it's not quite centered, and I see one end of the bumper a bit better than the other, and cannot see the center of the bumper below. Thankfully, seeing the hitch ball gives me a reference point. The picture quality is plenty good for its intended use, on a Pioneer 7" screen.Install was simple, but since my new Pioneer stereo had an input for the camera and a power for the camera, I used that to feed the camera and just grounded the camera back behind the tailgate. Instructions would have me instead use the backup lights for power and would be feeding 12v to a mirror or separate backup screen. If you're not comfortable with figuring out that level of wiring, it's likely the whole install is something you should leave to a pro.The wiring includes plenty of coax cable, standard RCA plug plus 12v, and a nice plug to facilitate removing the tailgate. Also included wire loom to protect the small coax.I felt this was a good product that met my expectations at this price point. I'd do it again and recommend it to friends.

Don't waste your money on universal cameras for trucks
I have previously installed the camera that mounts to the license plate and was disappointed that it could not capture much behind the truck. It was either too much rear facing or only a foot behind the vehicle which is not ideal when you have children running around and leaving stuff all over. The 170 degree camera i was nervous about because the license plate version was very fish eye. I think the 170 degree works well from the tailgate handle because its facing down and not straight out so the image does not look distorted at all. Most cars have a license plate in a position that the universal ones work fine but on trucks the license plate is so low it makes getting the oem look one worth every bit of extra dough. The picture quality is the best of all the backup cameras i have installed for myself or family over the years It has a very clear image and with my LED reverse lights i have no problem seeing at night, absolutely no grainy image like you get the the 'night vision' cameras. Overall i am very pleased and wish i had just gone with this version out of the gate as it would have saved me a bunch of install (upfront) and subsequent re-install time.I had a strange issue with the wiring on the second one i installed, and the customer service was fantastic! I ended up installing a few rubber grommets in the tailgate to protect it going forward.

First one didn't work, and the second one barly works.
I tested before I installed and it worked, after installed it quit working. Thought it was my new stereo so I had that replaced with a new one. Uninstalled the camera and got a replacement. After installing the new one, it happened again but this time I finagled the wires so it worked and gently secured my stereo back in place. It works but if I take a little to long to back up it starts to flicker. Don't want to unistall it again and return again, to much of a hassle. Just going to put up with it. Don't bother buying this one, buy a different brand. Also it doesn't come with any type of wire loom, had to buy separately. So with that extra purchase $$ spend a little more for a better product..
