So much fun at a great price.
This is my second Segway scooter and so far it hasn't disappoint. At full charge I was able to reach 20MPH. Once it dips down to 90% charge the speed drops back down to 18.6MPH. Excellent app. Super bright headlight and tail lights. Very cool bottom mood lights. Even the battery lights up red on each side. It handles steep grade better than advertised. Easy to assemble and easy to ride. However it's not nearly as well made as my old ES1L. The rubber board cover keeps coming off. There's also an exposed wire at the back of the front wheel. It's tucked away completely in the ES1L. Even the new optional saddle is flimsier than the old model. The saddle steel tube is much smaller too. There are now 2 fewer screws on the handle bar.Fortunately the speed and the range makes up for lower build quality than the older models. It does ride much better with a saddle seat because your weigh is better distributed between front and back wheels.

Gamechanger for freedom of mobility
I haven't needed tech support but everything else has been 5 stars. Full disclosure I have an ES4 with the extra battery. The extra battery has counteracted all the negatives from the reviews I read. 'Not as long as advertised' and 'hard time making it up inclines' were the 2 main issues other users were stating. Another issue users were complaining about was from the ES2 and ES3's and involved the electronic brake not working properly. Luckily, I've not had any issues with my ES4 firmware.I am disabled in such a way I simply have very low energy so I also have the seat attachment. I chose this model because Segway is a very known brand versus all the others I looked at in the same price range. It has 2 'no-flat' tires which was a must for me. It cannot be used in rain (like most e-scooters) however if you have a large poncho stored with it you can get caught in a surprise storm and not ruin your battery if you immediately seek shelter. I don't have a license and I use a scheduled shuttle service to get to certain places which takes at least 24 hours to schedule. Ever since getting this scooter I've been able to actually see a movie in the theater and each at fast food restaurant! Sounds mundane but anyone with lack of mobility will know exactly how nice it is to have that freedom back. Of course, I like in an idea city that is close together lots of great sideways and very bike friendly. I don't use bike lanes (just sidewalks) but I could in a pinch. I've been using it regularly for a couple months and have had zero issues. It works in the cold for short trips just don't charge it when the battery is too hot or cold. Even using it semi-heavily (~20 minutes a day) it only requires charging once a week. My only complaint, which doesn't warrant a star off, is that when its done charging it doesn't automatically turn off. It DOES stop charging (so you don't ruin your battery by overcharging) but it does stay on and if you leave the under lights on your just asking for a higher electric bill if you forget and let it charge all night. It only took about 3 hours to charge from completely drained. It also turns heads a lot - very stylish. I have a kryptonite padlock and it is just small enough to go through the back tire effectively "booting" the scooter.I would recommend a front carrying case for storing a poncho and your lock. I'd also recommend a carrying strap as it's weighted very weird when folded and doesn't just roll like a luggage suitcase. I really can't put in to words how thankful I am for this purchase. Oh yeah, its also super quiet - might want a bell or horn if you have narrow sidewalks or a mirror attachment for the right side. I wouldn't recommend a cell phone holder because I couldn't find one for less that 100$ that would actually work - seriously, you need a motorcycle grade holder or you might as well throw your phone to the ground and cut out the middle man. I simply wheel the whole scooter into restaurants and stores for paranoia reasons - has never been an issue yet. In the movie theater they actually let me lock it in an outdoor closet only the managers had access too - real peace of mind.Again, I can't say enough about how happy its made me. I rented a LIME prior to this and its just like having a rental scooter but has a seat and is always around when you need it. And at ~4.25$ for 20 minutes for the rental and 2$ a shuttle ride - it will pay for itself after about a year. Assuming Segway is good with their 2 year warranties: best scooter available that has a seat accessory.

Segway is unable to stand behind there product!!!!!!
It is important to know that I do not write reviews for various reasons. Most of the time when a person writes a review there is a motive behind it.I will give you my experience with my Segway ES4 drama. I bought two of these right after Christmas for my wife and I. I had done a lot of research trying to find the right one for us. I went thru Youtube and google reading every thing about most every electric scooters out there. Finally Segway was the choice. Amazon did there part in the process as advertised. The scooters were easy to put together and get charged in prep for the excitement one gets when a new toy is ready. It always seems like the waiting to use the toy takes for ever. After the first ride we where just happy as could be. I was so interested to see how long the battery would last. Being winter in the high country the cold wind forced us home before we could get get the full battery use. We plugged them both in and warmed by the fire hoping for better weather. I went out to check on the battery charging status and found one beeping at me and showing an error code 21, while the other was charging fine. I unplugged the beeping on and turned off the machine and restarted it, only to get different error code of 19. To the manual I went to see what these codes meant. the manual is little help but did tell me that the error codes had to do with the battery. I turned off the machine and went to bed frustrated. The next morning I checked the machine in hopes that the machine had fixed its self. It had not!!!!. I went to work thinking I would do research on the internet to find other people with this issue. There was some talk of the issue in forums with little resolve. There are videos on how to disable the machine, but nothing of a fix. Being a new machine with a SUPPOSED warranty I didn't want to dig to deep. Here is beginning of the Technical Support effort. I had the feeling that this was gong to be a painful experience, so grabbed a beer to help keep calm and began the phone calls.First try to the number it rand once then hung up. Cell phones don't help with keeping calm some times. Tried again to have the same thing happen. I had full cell service which made this less fun. Called my wife and she answered said phone connection sounded great. I sent an hour trying to call This technical support number. I went on line to verify the number and all checked out. Slightly irritated, I shot off aan email to Amazon customer support asking for help. Amazon resounded within an hour with the information of "Sorry to here of your issue, but we only are the pass thru people, but here is the information that might help with Segway technical support." This is the point that I start to realize that I might have bought a $700.00 heavy as hell kick scooter and not an electric one. To the internet again with no luck. I wrote and email to Segway tech support and filled out there forms with the hope that maybe someone would get back to me. To my surprise the next day I had a reply. "Sorry for your issue, we will get back to you in order as this is first come first serve bases." OK. Im in there system and I will wait for a response from a Tech. Yep, you seen this made for TV drama before were the reply never happens. SHOCKING!!!!!!! Mind you, this was now been three weeks. Back to the phone crap again, only to go thru the whole phone call answered and the hang up with no delay between. Now its personal. I was going to get ahold of somebody if it took all day!!!!!!! Holly Molly!!!! after a loooooooonnnnnnngggggg time I got the robocalls answering service. Shocked as I was I was not going to miss pressing the correct numbers. With a steady hand I began the oh so very painful process of "press 1 for this product, press 2 for this, and so on and so forth. Well you guessed it. I push the wrong freaking number, and the call hung up. OH MY LIVING STARS!!!!!!!!! my wife ran into the garage thinking I had hurt my self or had turrets or some thing worse. The frustration has now reached the red zone, and still rising. I called right back just knowing that I would be here for ever going thru this painful, awful and upsetting effort again. To my surprise I got right to the robo prompts straight away. I was able to get to the right place i thought and was greeted with the "please hold for the next available person". Yes, you would be right, I was using very unflattering language as I sat there on hold. I was not going to squander this effort, and was going to stay on hold, even if I had to do it all day. Finally a voice, a really human voice answers. I almost fell out of my seat. I began by telling the nice lady on the phone that I was not happy, and knowing that she had no idea what I had bee thru to get to this point, i wasn't mad at here but the evil Company called Segway. She said she understood and would do the best she could to help me as we started the tech support dance. I feel for these people that have to listen to those of us angry at the situation and not the person taking to call. With all that is me, I explained the issues. She sent an email to me and from there was able to send to here all the data I had collected to this point. Pictures, amazon email, emails to there emails which had all the dates and facts of the case. No I'm not a lawyer, but I have seen many on TV. Sticking to the facts, we conversed and I was given a case number. She would place me on hold while she had to check with her supervisor and what I could expect. NO I never talked to a supervisor. She finally said that the machine was under warranty and that the warranty people would call me with further instructions. Hell, at this point i was exhausted and took this at face value and hung up with her. Nice lady i might add. Yes!!! I have not received any communication from any stinking warranty department with in the time of 4 days.I sit here with the elusion that I will get somebody to listen or even help resolve this nightmare. Segway is not really going to do anything iI suspect. With the autonomous of the internet and the fact this piece of junk came fro China, i suspect I am screwed. As i watch my wife cruise the streets on my scooter, hers was the one broken, I hope this helps someone make there decision.PS. Hope my wife will bring me a six pack back with my scooter.
