There's no way I would varnish over it. Looks to good as it is. I've had teak outside furniture for 25 years. This is the best I've found. **Q: Can/should you apply polyurethane after applying the teak sealer to a teak bench?** A: Star brite does not suggest or recommend using any type of varnish or polyurethane over Teak Sealer **Q: Is this effective for a teak shower floor? Does it stand up to soap exposure found in a shower?** A: Yes, it will stand up to high traffic and water much longer than teak oil. Best of all, it is easy to refresh as needed without having to refinish completely. PRO TIP: If using on a teak shower floor, apply outdoors because this product needs UV exposure to cure properly for best results. Sealer was easy to apply with a foam brush and with minimal cleanup needed. One coat of the clear sealer did darken the appearance of the teak wood slightly. A little sealer goes a long way. A gallon size container was purchased to seal a table, four chairs and bench, but less than one quart was enough to seal the furniture with one coat. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gives a warm attractive look *by on Reviewed in the United States January 22, 2023* Although some reviewers say it turned their teak orange, I found that not to be the case. It does have a tint that is warm, but a pleasing look if you don’t want the silvery weathering look, or want to delay it. A quart goes a long long way if you apply it thin, with just the slightest dab on a foam brush. I still have a little left after sealing a loveseat, chair, ottoman and two side tables. The furniture in my photos are new, one month old under a pergola, and the loveseat was unboxed and assembled the day of sealing. They all look the same after sealing, whether a month of exposure or right out the box. The wood will chew up foam brushes quickly so buy a half dozen, or a brush or two per pieces of furniture. I have no comment on longevity since I just applied it but it is easy to work with, nice and thin, and I like the look. It does take a while to cure, maybe a couple full days of direct sunlight, so be patient and make sure its cured before you put cushions on it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent product beware of amazon shipping *by on Reviewed in the United States July 17, 2020* First, this is an excellent product. I put it on a new teak table and it looks great. It’s a warm golden/brown. Very pleasing.Second, Starbrite has excellent customer service. I shared my concern, listed below, and they responded immediately... within minutes... made good on a promise and successfully shipped product to me on the first try and within days. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER WITH THEM!Third, I ordered this product three times from amazon. The first shipment was damaged so badly that the shipper refused to deliver it to me. (The brown truck guys, so they know what they are doing.)The replacement order was also so damaged that the shipper refused delivery. The sealer spilled so badly that they had to put the whole box in a tote to protect other packages.The third time, the item was damaged and leaking, but the shipper delivered it. Nearly half the can had spilled out in the box.All three times I attempted to work with amazon customer service. I explained that the can was put in a box with no packing material... just loose in an oversized box. They did not care and simply dismissed my concerns with a refund.Bottom line: This is a very nice product that looks great and I have every reason to believe it will be durable. I just cannot recommend buying it from Amazon unless they figure out how to ship it.
