Great knife- wish the description had been more accurate
Let me begin by saying the knife itself is excellent. Between the excellent A-2 steel, the perfectly shaped drop point, and the narrow convex grind, the knife is a superb cutter and really excels at delicate tasks like skinning and dressing. It comes razor sharp out of the box. Taken on its own, the Fox River would easily deserve five stars. However, the knife that arrived was not quite as described, so I'm dinging it one star.I ordered this knife from Rockies Gear Store in August 2012, so your experience may differ. So how was the item different? The knife I received had hollow pins instead of the full ones pictured. That was fairly insignificant. The knife appeared to be new old stock, however. Instead of coming with the Sharpshooter Sheath in the description, it came with one made in Serbia. Based on a little research, this suggests the knife is several years old, maybe 2006-2007. This older sheath, while adequate, seems to be of somewhat lower quality than the Sharpshooter version. There was zero wear or marks on the blade itself, so I have no reason to suspect it was used. A patina had formed on the exposed tang, however, and some small red rust was visible in the lanyard hole. This suggests it has been sitting in its box on a shelf for some time.Still, an excellent knife. I don't mind the seller getting rid of an item collecting dust (especially since it was offered for a few buck cheaper than the next seller). Given all the information, I'm sure I would have made the same choice to purchase it. I'm just slightly annoyed I wasn't.
