Great bells and easy to move between bikes
I really appreciate this bell as it's super fast and easy to put on, grips the mountain bike bars in various locations, and the thumb snap can rotate to your liking while riding, it's loud enough, stays in place, is easy to ring, and easy to move to another bike. I bought 3 ( 1 for each of my mountain bikes ). I would forget to move it sometimes. I also had to do the same with my mirror, and my headlight and tail light mounts!Lasrly, I did have a set of holes tear through on one bell strap. I contacted the company about getting a new strap, and they sent me a new bell π. 5 stars for that.If you know the one position you always want your bell, only then would I consider one that is more permanently screwed on.

Amazing little bell - loud and clear
If you are riding through parks, streets, or other areas where pedestrians and animals are present, this bell works great for warning them of your approach. It is sharp, clear, and very easy to operate. If you want a loud and clear bell, but don't want a huge old fashioned mushroom cap on your bars, this is the one.I added this to my bike to warn other bikers and people walking that I was approaching without having to yell. It is very diminutive and fits on my road bike to the left of my right shifter (I'm right handed) about 6" from the center of the bar. You can swivel the thumb hammer to any position around the bell so I angled mine diagonally towards the shifter. This makes it easy for me to reach back with my thumb and flick the hammer whilst still holding onto the shifter and brakes (see uploaded pics). The sound is a very sharp, loud, and crisp ding. People commented that they heard it from far off but it sounded omnidirectional. i noticed that when I ding it, most people look all around, even skyward, as if trying to localize the sound. On a bike ride with other bikers, they commented that they heard it clearly from far off (50-100' away) but couldn't tell which direction the sound was coming from. While that sharp note has an all around good presence, it's not quite loud enough to warm someone walking along with their ears plugged with headphones and their music cranked up. That said, if I yell at those same people, "PASSING ON LEFT", they still jump when I come around telling me they didn't hear my shouting either. It's obviously not going to warn people in cars with their windows up either. The unit is very small (less than a 1/2 dollar coin in size). It takes up hardly any room on the handlebar, has a good tight strap, and has a hoop to collect the excess strap. On my Lizard Skin wrapped bars, the strap holds extremely well and simply cannot be rotated without unhooking it. Even after the handlebar wrapped compressed, it still is firmly seated and unmoving. The bell seems really well made and seems like it will last forever. I've ridden with it for over 1,000 miles, twanging it daily, having taken several spills, and it still seems like new. All in all, a great and simple bell. I highly recommend it.

Great, Resonate, and Actually a Pleasant 'DING'
This is a really good little bell. Basically, the little ringer part is flicked into the bell. It is nice and resonant, and the sound is loud and actually more pleasant that what I had been using before. I really bought this one because the the one it replaced was a really scratched up black one (different model altogether). The one it replaced was a bit louder, and the sound was obnoxious. This works just as good, but the sound is a bit more chimey and less squonk! Attaching it is quite simple, and it is nice and secure. I've taken a couple of rides and it hasn't moved at all, staying in nice contact with my thumb when I need it. Very good product (quality wise), and great, affordable purchase. I can say this: I ride a paved trail with lots of pedestrians. There are those clowns that refuse to put a bell on their bike and are more content to scream 'ON YOUR LEFT' so that they can hear their own voices. Don't be that guy. This is not adding weight to your bike, and if you have to struggle a bit more on the pedals because of a bell then you should be riding a tricycle or something. I've actually been told by pedestrians that they were thankful I used a bell and not yelling like I own the trail. This bell will still help you be Greg Lemond or that other dope-riddled guy. Peace.EDIT: Bought another. I had bought a few bells for my daughter's bikes over the years (nice, pretty ones that sounded okay), but THIS ONE she just loved despite the fact that it doesn't have flowers or designs on it. Just the sound is very nice, and very loud. That said, she couldn't be happier!

Loud and lingering
My bell died and sure enough I then had a near miss with an oncoming cycling on a narrow path so bought this ASAP. It's easy to install as requires no tools (which of course means it's easy to take off so bear this in mind if security's an issue), it's loud and has good sustain for a bout 2-3 seconds so it's still making a sound as you round those short corners.Useless in the wet unfortunately but I think that's the case for all this style of bell.

Fits my race bars OK
Good sound. The photo included by another reviewer shows that it's a tight fit on race bars but I got mine on the thickest part (maximum quoted diameter) with some hard work. You have to stretch the rubber all around the bar, not just when it comes to the last bit. It's been on for several months now without problem.
