Barron's IELTS Practice Exams

Not the best IELTS practice test book available which surpised me as Dr Lin Lougheed is renowned for his knowledge of proficiency tests.The instructions for YES/NO/NOT GIVEN were exactly the same as TRUE/FALSE/NOT GIVEN which implied they were the same type of question, which in fact they are not. TRUE/FALSE/NOT GIVEN focus on facts and information, whereas YES/NO/NOT GIVEN focus on views/opinions of the writer. Some of the strategies to successfully answer this question type are transferable, but not all of them as the test taker needs to focus on opinion/view, not facts and information. I have been led to believe that future editions will rectify this error.Another major flaw in the practice tests is in the listening section - section 4. All lectures are divided into two parts allowing students/candidates to look at questions (e.g. 36-40). Breaks in the middle of the final section has not been part of an IELTS test for many years. The purpose of section 4 is see if the student is able to listen and comprehend a short lecture accurately.Finally, Section 3 questions are extremely easy. Student have little difficulty answering all the questions correctly at very few synonyms and/or parallel ideas are used. In additions, many of the answers are blantly obvious when listening to the text. From Section 3 onwards, should be more subtle requiring students to listen carefully.The only good aspect of this book is to build confidence and/or introducing new strategies for various question types.

This reviewer is easy to use. It also provided good sample questions in all 4 subtests. The academic module provided more thorough samples and there were a wide array of samples on the writing portion including description / explanation of different graphs and writing different letters.I would definitely recommend it to other test takers.

Still preparing for the IELTS. CDs were in great condition. Book seemed to be new. I hope to do well this weekend.

This book covers every aspect of the ielts, even though the test papers are not in the same standards as it is on the real test it helped me a lot.

It is a beneficial book, I've learned from it many skills since I bought it. I hope to obtain a really high score.

I learnt a lot while using this book and I believe I am having a 8 as my band score

Se volete passare l'esame comprate questo libro! Facendo tutti i test coprirete praticamente tutte le tipologie di esercizio che troverete all'esame con il giusto grado di difficoltà. Insomma l'esame è proprio fatto come una prova di questo libro (tranne per la "grafica" delle schede...) particolarmente utili mi sono stati gli esercizi di writing svolti.

Mi piace molto questo libro: contiene molte prove pratiche di Ielts (sia Academic che General Training). Inoltre le rispettive risposte alle singole prove sono subito dopo ciascuna prova e non in fondo al libro, così sai subito dove hai sbagliato e non ti perdi nel libro cercando le risposte in fondo. Ho gradito anche i fogli inseriti nel volume per scrivere il writing task 1 e 2. Personalmente consiglierei questo prodotto ad un amico.

Contiene 10 modelos de examen completos, con audio y respuestas. Variado, de gran utilidad y reflejo del examen real. Sin gramáica. Sólo práctica.
