Great idea; potentially contaminated batch
I was excited to try these with my 8-month old daughter because I was really afraid of food allergies. My daughter did fine with the apple and peanut, but had a serious reaction to pear and egg that landed us in the ER. We, of course, had her checked out by an allergist. They tested her for the top 10 allergens two different ways (skin prick and blood) and we also did a food challenge with egg and pear puree that we made ourselves. She didn't have a reaction to any of them. However, when the allergist did the skin prick test with the food from the second egg and pear pouch from Inspired Start, she once again broke out into hives. The doctor concluded that there must be a contaminant in the batch because she isn't allergic to any of the ingredients. I've notified Inspired Start, but I thought others may want to know while they investigate in case there's a pattern. (It appears that at least one other family in the reviews, here, had a similar reaction to the egg and pear).

We purchased Inspired Start packs 1, 2, and 3 and were incredibly impressed. Our family has a history of food allergies so we wanted to ensure we were following the scientific guidelines for early introduction. Not only did Inspired Start allow us to do this, but it did it in a simple package that our kids loved. We threw them in the diaper bag and took them with us everywhere.Highly recommend.

I've been even more nervous to introduce some of the bigger potential allergy ones like nuts to their diet and hadn't yet been brave ...
I am so thankful for this product! I have 8 month old boy/girl twins and next month they will they be expected to begin 'adult' foods in bigger volume, such as hard boiled eggs etc. I've been nervous to go from 0 to 100 with them. I've been even more nervous to introduce some of the bigger potential allergy ones like nuts to their diet and hadn't yet been brave enough! Thankfully this product only contains trace amounts of these things so I've been able to monitor my babies very closely for any potential problems. I am so thankful something like this exists - it's been so heavy on my mind until now. PS, they love it!!! Phew.

Helped me solve the “how much” question ‘
I have a grandson that I have been making organic, homemade baby food since he has been 4 month old. We have a list of all veggies and fruit, but when it came to the "potential allergens" I just kept shaking my head and thinking, "I will have to figure it out." After doing research, and being a retired Pediatric RN I knew the sooner we got past that list the better. At 8 months, I finally said; "Ok peanut here we go." I had to struggle to find organic, unsalted creamy peanut butter, first challenge, then "how much?" My nephew had a reaction with a very small amount, so I guessed small and over the weekend we gave him a baby spoon each day to see if he had a reaction. No problem then I came across an article that stated we should give "4 heaping teaspoons of peanut butter each week" WHAT? Then I thought of all the other potential allergens on the list, and I deiced to find some help. Well Inspired Start is where I landed. I bought all three packs so he could have 1 pouch per day for 3 days of each of the allergens. Luckily everything that is mixed with the allergen in the pouches, he had already had alone (mango, banana, pears, apple), so I knew if there was a reaction it would be the allergen. I mix a small amount of homemade chunky version of the "mixer" with the pouch as he is now into chunky purees. So far there hasn't been a pouch he has refused and we are almost done. I am relieved I didn't have to deal with the "how much" question for all of the additional allergens. Thank you Inspired Starts, I highly recommend your product.

He likes it! Healthy grab-and-go snack for my 2 year old
A friend referred me to inspired start when I was complaining about my picky-eater 2 year-old. I ordered some and he likes it! We are fortunately mostly in the clear for food allergies but these pouches have been a great addition to the grab and go. My little one doesn't like cheese or yogurt so I'm thrilled to have something to offer him that has some protein and nutritional value instead of the sugary applesauce pouches he was eating before inspired start. Since I'm not using the kit for allergens, I am less concerned about the order. I save the egg flavor for days he goes to nut-free preschool since they don't have nuts. He likes all the flavors but the apple peanut is by far the winner for him!

My kids LOVE these! They ripped open the box like it was a present, and my 9 year old daughter slurped down the mango smoothie in a flash and then asked for more. She sucked every bit out of both. Neither of my children have allergies but I'm always looking for a way to get healthy food in them — and these are quick, healthy and delicious. My son doesn't normally eat a lot of fruit but he loved these. We'll be ordering on auto ship and keeping as a staple in our home.

More controlled exposure
I recently purchased the 8 flavor variety pack as well as one of each of the 4 flavor packs. I did not check the flavors in each before ordering, so ultimately I ended up with 3 pouches of each flavor (2 from starter packs 1 and 2 and one form the variety pack). My son was just over 6 months old when I began giving it to him. I work full time and he spends his days at daycare, so I did one pouch of X flavor for dinner Friday night and the next day for lunch I gave him the second pouch of the same flavor. I felt confident that I was exposing my son to potential allergens in a more controlled manner and that if anything were to happen, we were near a hospital. I felt this was better and safer than just giving him a taste of the food since I wont know how much he actually ate that way. This way I have a more exact amount that he is eating allowing me to ensure he has had enough of an exposure and I can just take the pouch to the ER with me in the event of a reaction.

Great Concept
Although I can't review the product's effectiveness because I can't tell if this prevented allergies, I can say all the flavors taste pretty good and my child ate it without problems. I like this product because I can introduce the allergens one at a time and see if my child reacts to it before going to the next. I started this when my child was about 6 months old. I have also tried the Bamba peanut puff snack and Spoonful One. Spoonful One has a similar concept but all the allergens are mixed together.
