In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland, Kimberly Irvine, Director of Concept/Show Design for Walt Disney Imagineering – Anaheim, designed sparkling, bejeweled crowns and turrets to adorn Sleeping Beauty Castle. Kim’s original designs are interpreted on this series of collector plates, with each design representing a different era at “The Happiest Place on Earth.” The sixth plate of this six plate series is titled “50th Disneyland Castle.” Each crown upon Sleeping Beauty Castle (and previous 5 plates), as well as all the plans for the 50th anniversary, culminate for an enchanting celebration and are represented on this plate. The dessert plate measures 8 ¼” and is signed by Kimberly Irvine. It is made in England by Dudson China; has the Disneyland 50 Happiest Homecoming on Earth logo on the back; and is 6 of 6 in this Special Collector Series. The central design has Sleeping Beauty’s Castle with the door open, inviting us to enter the Happiest Place on Earth. Each of the five designs (Mickey Mouse, Tomorrowland, Blue Fairy, Eye of Mara, and Tinker Bell) form a band around the edge of this fantastic plate. This new plate comes in a beautiful royal blue gift box with the Disneyland 50 Happiest Homecoming on Earth design in gold. A certificate explaining each of the six plates and signed by Kimberly Irvine is also enclosed. The paper is similar to parchment and the writing and designs are in gold foil. The gift box is protected by a white cardboard cover. It is really a beautiful plate.
