They also slant slightly with a wider bottom so the finished cakes are able to stand on their own. -Nordic Ware Customer Experience **Q: What type of cakes do you recommend to see the detail?** A: I don' think it matters why type of cake you bake in the pan. However, before putting your batter in the each of the wells, use a spray oil with flour so the cakes come out clean and only fill your pans 1/2 to 2/3rds full to prevent "spill-over". Also, perhaps use a toothpick when removing from pan (after cooling). I think the frosting and decorations are what really make the cake, rather than what type of cake you use. **Q: How many tombstones does a regular box of cake mix make?** A: Each tombstone has the same amount of batter that a cupcake would have or just a little more. So a box cake mix would make two batches of these I believe. You can make them thicker or thinner as desired. If you want them to stand up really well, use more batter so they are thicker. The pan is really awesome. We made lots of pumpkin bread in ours (from scratch) and they were so cool. **Q: Does anyone have a recommended recipe for this pan or do you know if a bundt cake batter will work?** A: I have only cooked pumpkin bread in this pan so far and it worked beautifully. Bundt cake batter is really think and should work beautifully as well. I used the cooking spray "Baker's Secret," and they came out with all the designs intact.
