DharmaCrafts Zafu and Zabuton Set (ZZSet) Meditation Cushions

Whether doing Zazen, Asana, Samatha-vipassana or Zhine, Do yourself a favor and buy a nice Zafu and Zabuton. While not top shelf by this company, its up there. When it comes to your sitting meditation, do yourself a favor and invest in a quality set. 2 spine surgeries with more in the future to go here. I do Zhine and Asana; the mat is incredibly comfortable and relieves pressure points without being too pillowey/making you off ballance. It's just damn comfortable. Get a pillow. I had to empty almost 2 gallons of buckwheat husks into baggies for my needs, but the pillow/zafu gives me just enough lift to keep my spine straighter than without the pillow and reduces pressure on hips and knees. Very satisfied customer here. I would have gone top shelf, but was on a budget. You get what you pay for. For reference, I am 5'8 and this zabuton is about as perfect in size for me as it can get(I like a little bit of room. Even if you are a shorter adult, you will want to go with larger size. Arrived soon after purchase. I love that it's made in the USA. The quality of the Buckwheat filled Zafu is unbelievable. This will last me a lifetime. The Zabuton is cusioned just enough to be comfortable and not overfilled. I ordered the regular size and it is more than enough room. Thank-you for making my Vipassana experience more enjoyable. (The Box it arrived in was a bit caved in on the top as if a heavy item was placed on top while shipping. Inside the box, both were inside a big plastic bag, so if any holes or rain happened in shipping, they would have remained dry. I ordered the BLUE, and I am glad I didn't order the purple, because the Blue looks brighter in real life than in the photo. I LOVE IT! Buy it, it's a piece of furniture you will use for many many years to come. The Duck fabric is strong and impenetrable.

Wow the quality on these cushions are fabulous. I’m not an experienced meditator (yet), but I wanted something that would encourage me to practice more and support my back (I could work on my posture). But I was also looking for my best chance at not getting buck wheat bugs. I went with these guys. They really do seem to make a good product. The cushion is firm in the right way. Granted I’ve only had this for about a month so I haven’t tested these long term but they seem like they’ll last well. No bugs so far, just a happy customer.

DharmaCrafts was founded by some Zen students in 1979, and they have been making quality meditation items since. The zafu and zabuton are made of heavy cotton duck. The zabuton has cotton stuffing that is contained within a separate liner which can be easily removed to clean the cover or to add or delete cotton. The zafu has an exterior zipper which when opened reveals an inner liner, also with a zipper. The liner can also be easily removed to add or delete the buckwheat hulls. There was no leakage of buckwheat through the zippers. Both the zafu and zabuton covers can be replaced if need be--DharmaCrafts stocks them. These two cushions are solidly and meticulously constructed and could last a lifetime, or two. We shall see about that.The price is a little high compared to the competition, but in this case you clearly get what you pay for.My only (very minor) complaint is that the zafu seems somewhat understuffed. It contains 4.5 lbs of buckwheat hulls, which is standard for zafus, so I'll just buy some extra to accomodate the design.

This Zafu and Zabuton arrived well-packaged, in new condition, and on time. Together they are very comfortable and supportive, and I am enjoying learning to meditate using them. I had trouble getting in a comfortable position before I bought these, and my meditation sessions were mostly spent trying to ignore the discomfort I felt in my knees and ankles. Now I can sit comfortably with good posture and really benefit from the meditation session. They are very nicely made, and I bought the buckwheat hull Zafu, which is firm but not hard - very comfortable.

The DharmaCrafts Zafu and Zabuton set is the best that I have ever had. It is very well constructed , comfortable and is perfect for meditation sessions. I got the blue color and love it. I give it my highest recommendation.

Exactly what you'd find in a zendo. I was weary of buying without seeing in-person, but this ended up being the real deal. Nice firm cushion I can keep my balance on. Thank you for making these
