The switch comes with a blue (and black and white) "pigtail" to make the connections to the wires in the wall. You will need to connect the blue wire to the one that runs to the fan (load side of the switch) and it is shown as blue in the instructions, but was black in the wall on mine. The black wire off the switch connects to the incoming power, also black (line wire). The white wire is connected to the other white wires in the wall. Be sure to turn everything off before working on it and check that the power is off with a meter since you have to touch the wires to connect them with wire nuts (those were provided). Hope that helps. **Q: Is this switch UL rated?** A: Yeah, I don't think so. There is no indication of UL certification anywhere on the device or package, and there is no ground connection - despite the fact that there's a large metal mounting tab. I connected a ground wire to the lower mounting screw to correct this. (Not needed if you are mounting in a grounded metal box) I doubt that UL would certify a device that isn't grounded. Other than this oversight, it's a very well constructed device, so I went ahead with the installation. **Q: My contractor lost the instruction.
