Biostop® 350i is a one component, highly intumescent fire-rated sealant and smoke seal for construction joints and through-penetrations. When used to fill openings and gaps Biostop® 350i blocks the spread of flames, smoke, and gas from one room to another. Biostop® 350i can be used on top of the wall construction joints, deflection track wall systems, and various penetrations such as EMT, telephone and power cables in concrete, gypsum walls and wood floors. Biostop® 350i is a water based, non-sag caulking grade sealant that is easy to apply as well as to retrofit and may be applied with a caulking gun or trowel. For large applications, it may be pumped from the pail. Biostop® 350i cures to an elastomeric seal that returns to its original shape and is suitable where building components can move in relationship each other. When installed properly along with floor, wall, or ceiling substrates and the materials that penetrate a wall, Biostop® acts as an integral part of a properly tested and UL rated firestop system. These materials act as passive containment or compartmentation to isolate and prevent gases, smoke and flame from taking the path of least resistance and passing into adjacent areas. This gives occupants the greatest chance to leave the area safe and unharmed.
