Wonderfully quirky, adult humor. Well drawn with a lot of spunkiness.
Fun for adults! This book is full of things that would make easily offended people shake their heads and tsk tsk for days, which means that this one is something special! The characters are lovable and quirky, and you feel like you’re with them on their journey through life––what more can you expect from a well done piece of comic fiction?! The artwork is simplistic and highly memorable; the characters fresh enough to go on adventures with. Buy this book, do it do it!!

I didn't think I would enjoy this as much as I did
I didn't think I would enjoy this as much as I did. I actually had reservations about purchasing it because the artwork is so crude. Thankfully, the story lines and characters are even cruder, and that's just what I was looking for. Reminds me of the classic indie comix of the 90s, when Fantagraphics was in its heyday. Nowadays, every alternative comic artist from that era seems preoccupied with creating "serious" masterpieces of poignancy. Thankfully, Hanselmann is just interested in making great, trashy characters in a "unprofessional" art style. I loved it! Get them all!

and fell in love with the comic
Read through all the comics posted online on 4chan, and fell in love with the comic. It's soo much more than a drug addled comedy. The character's all have depth that makes you feel for them, and at the same time hate the kind of scummy people they are. It's the perfect comic that displays the lives of people that are aimless, and end up hiding away in drugs, partying, ect. That may not be completely accurate but hey I'm watching a movie right now. I picked up St. Owl's Bay, picked this up, and I'm more than excited for Simon Hanselmann's next work.

Really a strong 3.5
For me this provided kind of a nostalgic journey back to age 15 or 16. The humor is pretty juvenile but there were two laugh out loud pranks, which is a lot for me. I would have loved this as a teen but now as a Dad and grand dad it isn't quite the same. Sitting around doing drugs all the time has to get old at some point and honestly adventures outside the home end up paying off in the long run more than anything happening on the couch. But sometimes the couch works out best and I may just get into more of this over time.

Now THIS is an exploration of mental illness, isolation and addiction. Its BEAUTIFUL, not just artistically but in its flow and story telling. I love the characters and how coldly realistic everything is, to the point of sometimes honestly making you feel a bit uncomfortable reading it because of how much you can relate to a depressed stoner with that lives with her kinda pervy boyfriend cat.

Stop reading reviews and buy the book.
A potent collection of Hanselmann's Megg, Mogg & Owl strips that everyone should delve into. Sometimes comic, sometimes tragic, often times simultaneously. All this delivered with dollops of genuine emotional impact. A must buy, a must read, a must share. If you haven't read Megahex you're missing out on the next evolution of alternative comics that started in Tasmania, matured on tumblr and is now a New York Times bestseller. What are you waiting for? Buy the book.

NEET Life In Two Dimensions
If you've ever lived the NEET (Not educated, employed, or in training) life while smoking and drinking far too much, you'll feel right at home with comic. It perfectly captures the terror mixed with drug based euphoria that high shut ins experience a daily basis, boredom inter-spliced with brief moments of joy and bewilderment. Don't be a nerd and pick it up right now with your government aid.

Coisa fina

but this actually seems like an appropriate case of the reverse
I’ve been reading Hanselman’s strips on his tumblr for a few years now and I’m thrilled to finally be able to read them in a non-electronic setting. His art relies on that DIY ascetic and sometimes seeing it on my computer or phone is a bit jarring. There’s a lot of talk about comics moving away from physical books over to digital devices, but this actually seems like an appropriate case of the reverse. The strips are faithfully reproduced from what he’s published online except for a few instances. In the infamous “Owls Birthday” story (Megg, Mogg and WW Jones get Owl high on his birthday and “pretend” to rape him) one of the lines said by Mogg to owl has been changed from “Owl, we’re going to rape you” to “Owl, we’re going to “do” you”. This is interesting because a few pages later when Owl complains to them it was sexual assault and calls it rape. I believe he mentioned in an interview with TCJ that he had a changed of heart with regards to joking about rape so openly. The change in dialogue he’s made I think is him trying to soften the blow of Megg, Mogg and WW Jones’s practical joke intentions. This is important later as some of the last strips in the book are all new and follow up on the events of Owls Birthday. No spoilers, but the status qwo has been shook up by the end of this book. Also, not surprisingly, the most infamous strip he did (where Megg and Mogg prank Owl by writing rape jokes on paper and pasting them all over his bedroom, only for Owl to bring home his date who is someone who really was raped) is excluded from this collection. He has since taken this strip down from his tumblr.I think it’s interesting that he’s chose to go back and “George Lucas” his characters like this. Maybe it has something to do with trying to be more politically correct when breaking into the mainstream with a big hardcover book by Fantagraphics, as opposed to posting on tumblr where theirs a smaller audience.Personally, I don’t mind the change and I’m waiting with anticipation for the next book to come out to see what will happen to out “heroes”.

Volume ben fatto e divertente all'ennesima potenza!
