Hope I never need to use them but good to have if I do.
It should work if I ever need to use them. Not labeled as waterproof, so I have to carry it in my kayak in couple of ziplock bags, in asecure easily accessible location.

Must have to a boat on the ocean.
Hope I never need it, but better have for a boat we use in the Gulf of America. Small enough to store in the compartment. I have not used it so don’t know how good it works.

Compact size and not too expensive
This is a nice looking little flare gun. I haven't had to use it yet (and hopefully never will!), but it appears to be well made. The Coast Guard inspector who performed my vessel safety inspection also commented that it looked like a nice gun. Since this isn't the type of thing you really want to risk testing, I'll have to hope that it works as well as it looks like it should if the need ever arises.
