After being stripped of all their possessions, a mage, a warrior, an elf, and a dwarf are forced to go rob the local Magic Maze shopping mall for all the equipment necessary for their next adventure. They agree to map out the labyrinth in its entirety first, then find each individual’s favorite store, and then locate the exit. In order to evade the surveillance of the guards who eyed their arrival suspiciously, all four will pull off their heists simultaneously, then dash to the exit. That's the plan anyway but can they pull it off?

Great game for family gatherings or board game nights! Appeals to non-hardcore gamers and veteran board gamers alike.
This is a really fun game; definitely recommend. I first saw this game at GenCon in August. Basically, Magic Maze is a co-operative multiplayer board game that can accommodate anywhere from 2 to 8 players. You're all working to move four pieces around a shopping mall, eventually positioning each token in a store that corresponds to its color. Once all the tokens are in place, the tokens "rob" their stores all at once. Then, players work to try to get all the pieces out of the mall to escape. Complicating the snatch and grab is that: 1) Only certain players are empowered to move the tokens in certain directions, and only certain players can perform other special actions needed along the way; 2) With some exceptions, none of the players can speak to each other during the game, nor gesture or point; 3) everyone is racing against an hourglass style timer, which can be flipped a few times during the game to extend the time left. The board itself is "built" from a predetermined deck that corresponds to the difficulty level and scenario you want to play. The end result is that you have a table full of people frantically moving pieces around the board co-op, and staring and making frustrated noises at one another to try to get other players to pay attention and do what they're supposed to do! This is a very family friendly game. My sister, cousins and others all really enjoyed it when we played after Thanksgiving dinner. If you're looking for something to do at family gatherings, especially if you want to draw in people that aren't normally big board gamers, you should buy this and give it a try!

Very fun, different co-op that I've played 30+ times
Magic Maze is a very quick game to play and to learn. I would label this as a potential gateway game (especially to cooperative games). You might hear "gateway game" and think I'm a hardcore gamer and be above gateway games. You might also have friends that have played "games" and that is so below them (i.e. I've played Monopoly, Risk, and Life before. Those caused some travesties of time and I don't want to waste anymore on your nonsense.) This game roped both crowds in and everyone in between.I played it over 30 times with various groups sizes (3 being the smallest and I played it with 8 a few times) and ages (the youngest being 7). Children can understand this, be part of the group, and everyone has fun still. The pieces come with stickers/labels for them in cause of color blindness issues. There are a total of 17 scenarios (7 of which introduces you to the game by adding a rule). The17 different scenarios might sound like a low number, yet the game's tiles are always placed down randomly. You could play a scenario multiple times and the layout will be different. Get out that stopwatch or digital timer because we wanted to see how fast we could do a scenario in and if we could beat that time. It just came to me now that we could divide into teams and see which team can complete the scenarios the fastest. All cooperating while being silent for the most part. You may be wondering 'why the 4 stars' because it seems like you have a lot of praise for the game which does offer a lot of possibilities and replay value. The game is definitely a buy. You might see it priced at $24, which is what I got mine at, or $35. The amount of fun had with this game is tremendous and worth getting it at either of those price points or in-between. The reason I nixed a star was because as you get more than 5 players the tasks are repeated. What I mean by this is that each player is in charge of moving characters in a direction (North/up, South/Down, East/Right, West/left) and only they can move them that direction. As the player count increases people might have the same directional responsibility as someone else which may cause them not to take an active part due to this. The catch is realizing that you still can be active and problem solve future issues/anticipate an upcoming direction. Before someone mentions it, there are other abilities other than directional as well. I had a blast with as low as 3 (haven't tried it solo or 2 players), up to 8 was great, and everything in-between was just as enjoyable! So on a buy, borrow, or bury rating scale, this is a buy. This game is loads of fun for large number of people to several.

Great for adults - can cause hiccups from trying to not laugh out loud!
This game turned out to be quite the hidden gem! We weren't sure how much we were going to enjoy a game where you were supposed to keep quiet for the majority, but it turned out to be quite amusing! We've only played with 4 people, but we're looking forward to playing with a larger group and upping the difficulty level. There are a lot of nuances to the game we have yet to play with, and we're looking forward to it. Great game to play if you're looking to have fun, work you're brain a bit, and keep the noise level down. Well, at least until the end, or whenever everyone gives up and starts laughing.

Guaranteed to Start a Party or a Fight
The inability to speak is the key to this game's fun. As you learn to communicate with each other and coordinate, success in this game becomes more and more fun. That being said, a failure to communicate leads to angrily staring at your partners and banging the "Do Something" token in front of them repeatedly. But honestly, that's part of the fun too. I highly recommend this game.

Fun for groups
I purchased this game for Christmas after watching a glowing review on Dice Tower.. It is a cooperative game (which we like a lot) but with a twist. You are not supposed to talk (we just couldn't quite follow that rule consistently) and must communicate nonverbally as you try to move various pawns through a changing maze. Each player has different directions they can move the pawns and the group must work together to get several pawns out of a maze that grows and the game progresses. Each game is short (around 10-minutes) and every player needs to be engaged to win. The rules are simple to learn and teach to others. The early games are relatively easy to win (which is nice when you are learning a new game), but the complexity increases quickly and makes winning much more challenging - requiring the group to work as a team. This game is a keeper for our family. and has a permanent place in our game collection.

worthy winner of many prizes!
I had heard from others that this game is really good. I finally bought it, and they were right! Super fun.No wonder everyone who talks about it says it's great.Lot's of good boardgames are complicated and hard to learn. The good thing of Magic Maze is that you start playing quite immediately with simplified rules, and gradually build up the rules. New players can get straight into it, and experienced players can get all the quality. It has lots of missions, so I think I won't be getting board of this game for a long time!!The single player mode is really fun too, and I've been doing that a few times. The game can be played by 8 (actually 9!) players, which makes this a great party game.Only issue I have is the theme. The aim of the game is to rob a mall and get out before the security guards come. I couldn't explain this to my son, so I changed the narrative slightly to "we are getting back the treasures the baddies stole from us, and get out of their house before they realize."I never buy anything in it's original price, but with this game, I happily payed the full price, and I can assure you that it was worth every penny!

Fun, fast, frantic co-op multi player!
Great tile laying co-op game; a unique experience where you don't take turns or talk. So many hands... You can almost hear the cogs spinning in each other's heads as you try to work together, though this doesn't always happen! Each game takes on average 10 minutes but can be over in 3 if you don't pay attention to the timer. Fast turnaround of a game means everyone wanted to play it again and again straightaway as we tried to master the maze. Lots of replayability: the game feels different depending on who plays. Manual includes tutorial missions and then ramps up the difficulty as you become more in sync with your fellow players, adding in more ways to confuse you - which only adds to the hilarity as you remember you are not allowed to talk or gesture.

Fab game for older children
We love Co-op games & were really pleased to find one we could play as a family. This is one to take a bit of time over, as it is complicated. The premise of the game is simple but there are lots of intricacies in the rules. My kids are 7 & 5 & keen boardgamers but both find it tricky & tend to lose concentration after a short while. I think it will be a great game for them to grow into.

Check what language version you'll be getting
Haven't found opportunity to play yet, but just realised it came packaged with instructions in Italian. Ok, it's easy enough to find the English instructions but that's not the point.

Great fun for most ages
This game is great fun! As a group of 25-27 year olds we really enjoyed it. There are 27 different versions of the the game in this edition so you can change up the difficulty level and not get bored of the same game all the time. It is very easy to understand
