You decide whether or not to buy.1. After 15 years I had to replace my Radio Shack Pyramid Remote Relay System.2. Purchased this unit in May, easy setup, worked flawlessly.3. Failed in June, Amazon quickly got it replaced.4. The June replacement failed near the end of August.5. I'm an electronics engineer with over 40 years in the field so it's not like I'm unable to comprehend operation of the product.6. Whole house surge protection and both the send and receive units are on APC UPS/Battery Backup's. No other electronics have failed, only the Remote Relays.7. Power cycling the Remote Relays (2 full minutes power removed) a week ago got them working for a day, have had to power cycle daily since then. Seven days later, power cycling is useless.So, two of these new units down, under warranty but because it's a few weeks past the standard return time there is now a restocking fee. So I have to make an hour return trip to a UPS drop off and take a loss on the return.I will not be purchasing another one of these.Only hope the next company I select manufactures with quality components.

So after careful consideration I decided to purchase this gadget as my surround system console is installed in the pantry and the remote for it it’s in the family room, a wall away.I got the product, I used the USB to power it which does work, but not if you use the IR extender hardware for which reason I only give it 4 stars.In order to use the IR RED receiver on the tv and the blue transmitter on the unit you want to control you must plug in the bases. That’s how it worked for me.Once installed, it does a very nice job.

If you need to use a remote control in one room, to operate a device in another room, then get this product. I tried another product first that didn't work and had a big antenna. This one is compact and worked perfectly. The additional emitter/sensor in the package don't need to be used, but are optional and give you more flexibility in the installation. And the USB port used to power the device is nice. You can use the supplied adapters to power the devices or the TV if the TV has a usb port.

This is a game changer. My cable box can now hide behind the tv. It works very well. No more ugly box out in the open to see.

I have tried all the other IR repeaters but none were as simple as this. Plus, many of the others don't actually work well. This one does. Given it had the option to be usb powered, I just used a usb port on the TV and installation was much easier. Highly recommended.

I've used several different repeaters and this is the best. Using it over about 40' and it works flawlessly every time

Quick installation. 95% of the time requires 'two clicks' to work-- one click to wake up the system, then it stays functional while awake. Have multiple IR repeaters installed in the house- all of the other ones are a much more expensive brand professionally installed but with endpoints maintained my me as I've replaced electronics- and they are instant-use without the glitch. Would prefer in the future to pay more for a more solid system.

It works but the IR blaster did not work. It worked with the "box" unit close to the receiver.
