Great unit with room for slight engineering improvements
I really like this unit. It is well-made and the stainless housing is not magnetic, so it is made of a SS alloy that will not rust (BTW: a great test for SS grills, also). The integrated analogue timer is a convenient feature. Although I would not hesitate to recommend buying one, I do have two recommendations for engineering improvements. The first is the terminal block, it could be "beefed up" for heavier gauge wire. I had a difficult time stuffing 2 X 12 gauge wires into the block. However, I did not have a problem with the screws stripping out as another reviewer noted. The second issue is the design of the knock-out holes. If using conduit, the rear two knock-outs are almost useless because the openings are vey close to the bottom of the internal transformer housing. I suppose they could be used for push-in plastic wire grommets for romex or line cord, but if the housing was made about 1" longer, there would be no problem using these rear knock-out holes for conduit or 1/2" romex strain relief connectors. The blanking plugs for the knock-outs also tend to separate at the 3/4" opening size. Again, I am very happy with the unit and would purchase it again. The two aforementioned issues fall more into the annoyance category, rather than deal-breakers.Update: I just installed a second one of these units and, within the limitations described in my original review, very happy with its design and performance.

Great little tranformer
Ordered one for my previous home and it worked well enough that I ordered one for my new home when I installed my landscape lighting. I'm not sure what others are complaining about in regards to installing it. A) add up your lighting wattage and check the gauge and distance of your lighting run to make sure you do not go over 80% of the rated capacity of the transformer. The connection space is a little tight, but for 12 gauge landscape wire it works fine. Strip the wire and bend it at 90 degrees and it will slide right into the connector. Yes you need a small screwdriver to tighten the terminals. If you need to run multiple home runs, I suggest running a lead from the the transformer to a distribution block. (I use the VOLT Pro MAcro junction connectors since they are rated for direct burial) Don't try to splice your connections inside the transformer. I'm running 12 x 3 watt LED Lights (36 Watts total) with approx 250' of 12 gauge wire for the supply lead with no problem. I will be adding two more of these for other lighting I'm installing in areas around the yard that I would like to control independently (without using the timer)

Good, but photocell is 1/2" so don't popout the entire 3/4" popout.
Overall, it's a nice transformer for low voltage landscape lights. I have this supplying six 12v lights with 4w led bulbs on a 100 ft 12/2 wire. I set it at 15v per the instructions (based on distance) although probably 12v should be fine since they are led lights. Nice stainless steel construction. Timer is the wheel variety and lightkiwi was good about sending instructions on how to set it as I had lost mine. Easy to install on our stucco wall, includes screws and wall anchors, and has a clean, classy look.Took one star off because the popouts are 3/4" with a 1/2" popout in the center and I took out the whole 3/4" popout for the photocell only to discover that it is 1/2." Not a huge deal as a reducing washer solves the problem but still annoying. Would have been nice to mention that in the description.

well made, good value
stainless steel case looks to be weathertight

Mechanical timer started sticking after 8 months of operation.
The unit looked well made and was easy to install. It worked well for about 7 months. Then the lights would not go off. Trouble shooting the device, the mechanical timer wheel was stuck. I rotated it several turns through rough spots where it was sticking. It then worked for about a week, but stopped again. I have now lubricated the wheel with WD-40 spray and it has continued to work for about a month now. The unit is well sealed but possibly moisture has started to affect its operation????

Already had one. Liked it.

Best transformer I've ever used.
Wow, dang best low-voltage transformer I've ever used. Yes, it is a little pricey--but you get what you pay for. (In fact, I bought three of these.) The design of this unit, from the way it hangs on the wall, to the way the outside cover fits, to the quality of the stainless steel, to the quietness of its operation, to the accuracy of the timer--it can't be beat. Now, in all fairness, I've only had these for a week. I bought the first one, was greatly impressed and bought two more. At $80/each, I hope they last at least five years. If they fail early, I'll update my review.
