Great speakers for the price
I bought these to go with the Echo Dot up in my bedroom. I wanted speakers that could be left plugged in continuously (not charged) and these fit that need. The sound is decent and while there is no volume control on the speakers themselves it's easy enough to control the volume on the Dot. These get more than loud enough in the confines of a bedroom. They really do greatly improve the sound of the Dot, and considering the very low price of these they're great speakers. Two things:- I have these plugged into a wall outlet with a USB slot. The cord is connected all the way down, i.e. the USB plug and the plug that goes into the Dot are really close together. Of course these were designed to be used with a computer where those would naturally be close together, so that isn't a design flaw. It was very easy to just pull the cord apart to separate the two plugs. I have this sitting on a tall dresser with the Dot, so the Dot and the outlet are about four feet apart.- The orange color is much deeper than shown in the pictures. Even on vastly different monitors, the color shown online is lighter (yellower) than the true color of the speakers, which is more of a burnt orange. Not a problem for me, but might be for others. All in all I would recommend these as the sound you get for the price is fantastic.

Quality sound from compact and inexpensive speakers
These speakers produce sound of sufficient quality to make video gaming or video watching on the computer enjoyable. They are not super dense surround sound wall shaking bass type speakers, but for simple desktop audio they are quite adequate. I don't play much music out of my computer, and if I did I'd want a better audio set up, but for casual gaming and watching dumb stuff on facebook these speakers are more than suitable. The biggest drawback is one that other commenters have mentioned ... the cord length is too short to give you much flexibility in placement. I have a traditional desktop PC where the cpu case sits on the floor under my desk ... the cord is just long enough to put the speakers on the desktop directly above the cpu which is okay in my case but if you have the cpu placed some distance away from your monitor you won't be able to put the speakers front-n-center very easily.

Updated review- second set much better. Works great for my needs.
Update:Customer service contacted me and made things right. I tossed the first set that was faulty and they went out of the way to contact me and send a replacement. The new set worked much better and the issues originally written are a thing of the past.Thank you.--original review below--I didn't expect much from the speakers but the issues I had with sound popping crackling and buzzing no matter what device I plugged them into made them a complete waste of money. My biggest concern was how hot they got. I went to turn the volume up on them and noticed the speaker with the volume knob was so hot I had to unplug them do to fear of a potential fire. I mean it was really hot, not just warm but to the point that I had to quickly unplugged them and couldn't touch them for a bit.Best of luck.

Great minus stupid short cord
lots of sound out of small speakers. At first, i thought the sound was awful, however, i learned that my pc had a setting for headphones that it was on, causing the volume to be limited. once i fixed that, the sound is awesome. louder than anything i had before. perfect. Remember the volume dial on the back of the main one!!! can also lead to false thoughts of failure!Edit....ok....one MAJOR issue. if your computer isn't on the desk you're putting these on, prepare to hear them fall behind your desk a LOT! Cord is only about 2 feet long. seems long until you realize most pc audio ports are on the bottom of the pc. due to this, they sit at the very back edge of the desk, just waiting to fall.

These are not great speakers so that is not why I give them ...
These are not great speakers so that is not why I give them a good recommendation. They are good for what I use them for...I wanted a small set of speakers that would not take A/C power as I dont have a plug available for speakers on my system without getting a new powerstrip over here so these dont require plugging in they plug into the speaker port AND a USB port (both at the same time, not one or the other) So they use your computer to power them which is nice if you dont have a power plug in for them.If you do have a power plug in however, I would buy more expensive better speakers.

Volume - WHAT a volume button??
I like these little things. However, I was about to launch these back into the box and to Amazon when the volume was terribly low. Because it comes with NO documentation, I was twirling it around in my hands looking for a target to throw them out without damaging too many other things around my computer when - the volume got louder !! Then I see behind the main speaker that ties into your computer, there is a volume control button. Golly, who would have known ???Cables to tie into a PC could be a little bit longer as well. Just got these for when I'm tired of putting on my headset and they work good for the size and price.
