A fun addition to the series.
Kaz and Claire are invited to visit the local fire station to help solve a new ghostly mystery. Sparky, the new fire station mascot dog has developed a strange behavior. He refuses to enter certain rooms at the fire station and sits and howls at them. Kaz and Claire as well as the other children involved feel certain that a ghost is involved. Could this be another member of Kaz's family or something much more dangerous? Once again Claire, Kaz, and Kaz's little brother John are forced to use their skills to solve a mystery, but this time the results might not be good. I always enjoy reading this series because despite the supposedly simple nature of the story, Butler keeps up the tension right to the end providing believable solutions and a fun ride. This is a fun series that young readers who like a splash of fantasy with their mysteries are bound to enjoy.

great story lines and subplots
the outstanding collection was requested by my child. We had 4, bought all 10. Excellent series and highly entertaining to the late elementary student.

Great books for kids who hate reading!
My son is 9 and in 3rd grade and hates reading but loves these books! He doesn’t like them quite as much as the eerie elementary series but they are definitely still some of the only books that we have found which he enjoys! Thank goodness! I feel like they would be suitable for kids needing a slower transition to chapter books...they are chapter books, but they have a picture every 2-3 pages which my son loves! Great for 2nd and 3rd graders...or a higher level 1st grade reader!

Fantastic series great for 3rd graders
This series of books is fun and keeps you wanting to know more about what is going to happen next. They turned to my son from the standard reader to a kid who really enjoys reading and looks forward to the next book! The series has AR numbers and runs between 11000 and 14000 words per book. It made it quick for him to add up his numbers in his third grade class

There's humor, mystery, and fun.
My daughter loves the humor and fun in this book, as well as the antics of Little John, Kaz’s brother. This is a series that is fun and full of adventure. The illustrations are great and there are some new characters introduced who we’d like to see in future books. The Haunted Library: The Ghost at the Fire Station by Dori Hillestad Butler, illustrated by Aurore Damant, is a delight with fresh mysteries and stories to carry the books into the next. We definitely recommend reading these in order.
