This dongle did not solve my reception issues. (I finally bought a larger dongle that has an upright antenna attachment and that did the trick.) Moreover, the software for this WiFi Adapter was difficult to install, difficult to use, and glitched all the time. It did not handle it well whenever my laptop came out of sleep mode, or out of hibernation, or whenever the signal dropped. It just did not work well on "automatic" -- I had to continually fiddle with it. This device might be fine if you're trying to reach a strong signal coming from the next room; but it didn't work for me trying to reach a weaker signal coming from the McDonalds across the street.

Our internet modem is on the main floor - we have a smart tv in the basement that constantly freezes/loses signal because of a weak internet connection. It bums me out because sometimes the kids like to watch tv or have music apps on in the basement while they are playing. I purchased this wifi adapter and connected it to the tv in our basement - it makes the signal much stronger and the tv stays connected while we're watching it! We haven't had any problems staying connected since we started using this adapter!

Just got my order yesterday in the mail and i sm very happy with this product connected it to my pc and i was good to go. I purchased the basic model without Antenna so i can connect it to the usb hub inside me pc so its hidden, from inside the pc my connection can only pick up me and my neighbor internect connection but when connected outside my pc it can pick up a couple more connections. So for a appartment to Medium size house the basic model will do just fine.

These seem to work well on laptops but I bought this one for a desktop that was not located near the router or switch. Since I plugged it right in the back of the computer which is not facing the router, the signal is reduced greatly due to the chassis. On other desktop computers with similar problem I have added an USB extender cable which seems to help a lot. No software was needed to install on either Win7 or 10 computers.

One of the lowest cost adapters for sale on Amazon. This is my second purchase of this model. Plug and Play with Windows 10, for older operating systems go to Realtek's website and download latest drivers or use the mini-CD. Works great on the 5g band with either password or pressing the button on router. Recommended.

I rarely or never write a review any products I purchased online or offline. But I have to write this one. My wifi verizon modem located downstair and approximately about 70 feet. I knew it is quite a distance that's why my laptop lost wifi every 3-4 days so I had to reset my modem. Since I inserted this wifi adapter into my laptop 2 weeks ago I never lost signal so far. Does that tell me this wifi adapter great? Yes,It dawned good.BTW, before you all want to purchase stuff from Amazon, you have to think about other competitive vendors, such as Ebays, walmarts, etc. My wife told me there are a lot of other companies selling the same stuff as Amzon does, but cheaper and easier to return. What does Amazon help community?. Amazon wants your money. You are tax payers, not Amazon. Microsoft gave you a lot of free stuff and useful stuff, such as Microsoft offices, etc. Google provided you knowledge and so much useful. Yahoo does the same. What Amazon does other than take your money. Amazon did not contribute economy like you think. Such as Amazon doesn't pay well to its employees. Of course, packing and shipping jobs are all low pays. However, Amazon profited super huge and dominated online shopping. Anyways, I will not purchase anything from Amazon any more except I couldn't find from somewhere else. I just bought a stuff from Ebay comppared prices between I earned $5.98 or Amazon is more expensive. Ok we all should fire Amazon.

I think I had a defective one based on the rest of the reviews. I upgraded to 100up/100down wifi. My desktop uses a USB dual band and I regularly get over 110Mbps on 5G. This adapter did not plug and play for Windows 10 on my laptop. I installed the software which did make it function but in 5G mode, I was getting 15Kbps (yes, Kbps, not Mbps). The 2.4 mode seemed to work at about 50Mbps but my internal modem (not dual band capable) was getting 65Mbps already. I returned it. I did like its size.
