Secret Treaties

After relocating from DC back to the ATL, I finally got settled back in my new place and set up my stereo. I bought this CD back in May of last year, and finally yesterday broke it out. I bought this the first time on 8track back in the 70s and high school. Then vinyl, then 2CDs. But this offering..... Wow! The original recording always rocked, but the sound quality left a lot to be desired. It is now day 2, & it may not leave my player for a while. I listened to it 3 times at about 1/2 volume on my killer vintage Pioneer Amp and AR 3s...... If you love this album & BOC, do not think twice and buy it now! Rock on my brethren!

This is one of my two favs from BOC.But it seems that CF is wanting people to believe that the remastered “cardboard sleeve mini LP” is higher resolution that a standard 44 KHz 16 bit CD.As nice as that would be - it is not. My Oppo UDP-203 identifies each disc it loads. These are ID’ed as standard 44 KHz 16 bit CDs. The ad wording hints that they are 96 KHz 24 bit resolution. This may be referring to their masters - but IMO IT IS A TOTAL MISREPRESENTATION of the PRODUCT’s resolution included.Perhaps this is done to lure in audiophiles to buy yet another rendition of the artist’s works. They sound good - but the compression and sampling rates are standard and certainly no match for DVD-A, SACD, or even LP.I recommend them only if you don’t already own the works on other media that is playable.BTW - I wrote both OPPO and CF asking for the truth. Oppo responded with what I have said here. CF has not replied as yet.

Greatest sounding reissue. I'll bet between vinyl and cd issues and the reissues, i've bought the first 3 BOC outings at least 6 times. Grew up listening to and going to see these guys so they have a special place in my musical heart. If they and their mgrs and producers werent rocknroll geniuses, they were close. The first 3 albums will bump bellies with the best of them. The trifecta of hard rock/heavy metal. Sci-fi psychodelic space rock. ME262 is a German jet, Junker Jumo 004. Who writes lyrics like that?

Great remaster. These vinyl replica editions do not have any of the bonus tracks the "standard" version does, but it is a different, and better remaster. Less compression, less noise reduction, more natural dynamic range. Sounds fantastic, if you love BÖC, this is the series you want to buy. Secret Treaties was the biggest revelation among the several albums I got in this replica series. I heard stuff I had never heard before--for example, almost every song has a kind of honky tonk tack piano mixed fairly low. If I go back to the "standard" version now that I've really noticed it, yeah, I can hear it. But I never noticed it at all before. These versions really bring out the clarity and allow you to hear everything the Oyster Boys laid down. GET IT.

This is the definitive album by this band. Honestly it took a couple of listens before I really got into it because I kept wanting to compare it to their previous album Tyranny and Mutation. There are a few songs where the drums kind of get buried in the mix. Other than that it is flawless and as a musician I can really appreciate every aspect of it.

Great price and this company is cool.Even though I have the recent box set I still had to buy these mini lp cds.At 9.99 each. I could not pass these up.Really fast shipping! 3 days from when I ordered them very happy.

Great album by the Cult. The remastering job done on these series of paper sleeve albums puts nearly all other remasters to shame.

Fue escucharlo y pedirlo nada más acabar.La calidad de sonido es buena, pero no lo oigo especialmente bien con lo que se supone que es la remasterización (tampoco es que yo tenga un oído muy fino, de todas maneras). En cuanto al empaquetado, es un poco incómodo sacarlo para escucharlo: va en una fundita de papel que se mete en el cartón simulando un vinilo. Yo prefiero los que tienen la típica caja donde encaja el disco. Es curioso que el disco imita el vinilo en la serigrafía, pero también en la cara grabada, que es de color negro, como las de los CD de la primera PlayStation.

El Cd, ya sabeis,copia fidedigna a su lanzamiento asi que a tratarlo con cuidado. trae una funda de plastico con banda adhesiva para cerrar e incorpora una especie de OBI. Pero lo interesante es el sonido espectacular que sale de los altavoces, pasada total!!! Obra maestra de los neoyorkinos.
