Worked right out of the box, its three telltale LEDs (power, transmission, Bluetooth handshake) are useful, the power LED reminds me to take the thing out when I park - my old OBDII dongle had no telltales, and like my ex-wife, will only talk to me intermittently now, and these dongles do consume power while plugged in, continuously, as the OBDII port is always powered - and being able to see it has handshaked with the handset is nice. I use it with my existing full CaroO Pro Android monitoring / dashcam application, so haven't tested it with anything else, using my older Galaxy, which is dedicated to the car.
