Simple as it looks, serves its purpose very well; this is an essential item for somebody with a switch!
The charging grip at first didn't seem to be different from the original that came from factory. However, the advantages of being a charge stand without having to use the console is very very practical. As simple as it is, the charger serves its purpose with this design, and it's non-intrusive when you play, that you wouldn't even be bothered to go back to the original, non-charging one.At first, i read about the issues that were had with it, but it seems that those were problems from the first shipments, as i have more than two weeks testing the charging grip, and everything is working perfectly. This has to be one of the essential items to have, if you plan to play for long periods on a TV or a PC with the Joy-cons. I definitely recommend it.

Fine grip, horrible charger.
Two stars may be a bit harsh for this grip since the thing itself appears to be the same shell that Nintendo uses for their own charging grip. It feels the same to hold and the joy cons fit tightly. However, the charging functionality, which I bought this for, is glitchy. Many times it doesn't charge at all unless I reconnect the USB C plug a couple times. I tested this on the Switch in handheld mode a few times to confirm, and the same thing happens there. It never charges unless I replug it a few times. Also, charging time is considerably slow when compared to Nintendo's cable. In addition, the USB C port being placed at the bottom (instead of the top like Nintendo does it) makes it awkward to use while plugged in. Perhaps an L shaped plug for the USB C end would help with that. In any case, the wire is all in your lap and legs as you play...not good. Lastly, the cord length on the included cable is laughably short for play. But fine if you just plug it in at your nightstand to charge while not in use. That is, if it decides to charge at all.

Great alternative to the Nintendo branded charging grip
Great alternative to the Nintendo branded charging grip. Definitely a little lacking in the quality, I had to snap the Joy-Con's in pretty hard to get them to click. Charging works well, and grip is comfortable. My left Joy-con is a not quite flush with the back of the grip and it squeaks a little. Overall a great price for a good product that has worked for me.

USB C changing grip controller
Does it work? So far so good. We have multiple ways to charge those tiny joy con's and this one will save the poor things from having to be removed from the grip that came with the switch. Plus it charges through USB C which is the same as the switch, awesome!, and can be charged by any of the cell phone USB C cables laying around the house. I'll keep my eye on the functionality of the charging grip as my teenage son works it over but like I said before.. so far so good.

Controller on right side does not latch like it is supposed to
Charges as advertised. Controller on right side does not latch like it is supposed to. Probably a defect but not worth bothering about. It hasn't come loose while using it. Of course I only use for lego games. Might be a problem for more action type games. Could probably get it replaced, but for me not worth the trouble.

Good Alternative to the pricey Brand Name
This is a good alternative for those not wishing to pay three times the amount for the Nintendo branding. It works great. I do call out that this is not exactly the same as the Nintendo original - in my opinion, this grip is made for slightly (just very slightly) larger hands which I as an adult prefer, but my kids prefer the original.

Aside from the USB C on the bottom (many of the other off brands have micro USB) it feels exactly like the grip that was included with the switch
I bought this charging grip instead of the Nintendo branded on. Aside from the USB C on the bottom (many of the other off brands have micro USB) it feels exactly like the grip that was included with the switch. I’ve had no issue with charging, as some other review noted. I am quite happy with my purchase!

It works.
It works, it's held up well, and it's nice to have the ability to charge a spare set of joy cons. I really wouldn't bother payig the premium for the nintendo version of this grip. My kid and I have used it and abused it and it's holding up fine. joy con lock up is good and has stayed that way.
