## Questions & Answers

**Q: if i put into the ground and light it, will it blow a hole in the ground? (if so might get for mini films)**
A: Before electricity was provided to everyone, many rural farm houses used acetylene gas lights. The acetylene was generated by water slowly dripping in a sealed container of carbide. Acetylene gas was generated and pressurized the system. That gas was piped to the rooms of the house via 1/2" steel pipes. The light was a mantle and it burned like a Coleman gasoline lantern. I'm 74 years old. A lot of older houses had this type of lighting. A friend of my father's grew up in one of these houses on a farm. When he was young, his dad had gone out to the barn to recharge the acetylene canister and when he opened it, it blew up killing his dad. He told me when he felt his dad's chest it was mushy. Acetylene can ignite with a flame but it can also detonate from internal friction. Acetylene over 15 psi can detonate by itself. The hotter it is, the more likely it is to detonate. That's why the acetylene tanks weldors use are filled with diatomaceous earth and acetone. The acetylene dissolved in the acetone just like carbon dioxide is dissolved in Pepsi. The point is, you probably want to have a bit of training before you start playing with this stuff. It isn't dangerous if you know what to watch out for.

**Q: can this power my mini cannon?**
A: Yes it will work in a carbide cannon. Trust me, I use this in my Big Bang cannon. Conestoga makes the Big Bang carbide cannons and sells their "Bangsite" powder at a greatly inflated price, ($10.50/100 shots). You can SAFELY grind these chunks of gravel-sized pellets with a pestle & mortar into powder for use in their automatic charger mechanism for a greatly reduced cost. It's the SAME thing, nothing but calcium carbide -- also used in old fashioned miner's lamps.

**Q: Are the contents in lumps or powder?**
A: approx. 1/4" lumps

**Q: How big is the can it comes in?**
A: 1 Pint can approximately 4" tall 3 1/2" in diameter . Due to hazmat regulations the contents & can can't weigh over 1lb.
