Vive Cane Tips for Ice - All Terrain Heavy Duty (2 Pack) Metal Retractable

Not much is more threatening than the thought of having to walk across ice and most of us will have snow, sleet and ice at some time during our winter months. Being ready if we have to venture out is important. I don't use a cane to walk with all the time, but I find it adds a little confidence having one on each side while trying to balance on snow and ice. These amazing hiking prongs are great for that. They slide on easily and secure tightly. You can flip them up when not needed or pop them in downward position for the ice. The fact that they offer that adjustment is a good point for these devices. These would also help in muddy or slick conditions so have multipurpose applications. They are sturdy, effective and affordable for a little added safety.

Got to use these today in the snow. Only 2 inches of snow, but they worked amazing. I have a steep driveway, also used it on multiple surfaces. Worked great and was pretty easy to switch when I got onto hardwood floors.. took 10 seconds to be ready for the snow, and 10 seconds to switch it back when you dont need them. The only other thing, I had them mounted on the sides of crutches it would get hung up on random things. I switched them today to face the rear or front. Inside of on the sides and its much better. Honestly the quality appeared a bit on the cheaper side, its solid. Im a big boy and they work great for me. Im a little over 200 lbs and these feel solid for me.

This was so helpful this winter when trying to walk through ice and wet snow. I love having the 2 pack so that I can use one hiking outdoors for better grip in muddy areas. I feel much safer. Installation was super easy; I followed the video tutorial.

I like this product. I have owned other brand ice tips which, quality wise, generally look about the same. But VIVE does improve their product marginally with the addition of rubber inserts that help protect the finish on your cane. I have learned from past experience that the screws on these products WILL loosen in time under moderate to hard use. Rather than risk losing these tips in snow pack, I strap them down securely with HEAVY DUTY (250 lb) ZIP TIES which makes them much stronger, more effective and less likely to fall off when most needed. This is easy to do. First, simply position the spikes centrally on the cane tip and anchor it to the rubber with the first zip. Next I firmly attach the collar with the supplied screws and place another zip about mid point between the two. Since I own several canes I don't worry that these sharp tips can no longer be pivoted out of the way. (I use this technique on a (hefty) wood cane for walks to the car and the mail box on really nasty days (or if my balance is not the best I also have all four legs of my walker done this way.

Absolutely amazing, lifesaving, gadget! I have had my canes and walker slide on the winter ice, right out from under me. I have fallen twice! Since I put these fold away spikes on my canes, they don’t slip at all. They are easy to attach. Also, the spikes fold away to prevent damaging indoor floors or carpets. Inexpensive. People are amazed at just how well they are designed.

These are a great idea to have as an addition to your hiking sticks. I bought a couple pair to add to the hiking sticks I bought for my mom and another friend. They were very difficult to put on the walking stick and the rubber cover for one of the spikes was missing. These were for older women and one of them has tremors and trouble gripping things and the other one has fragile skin. They would not be able to attach these tips to their hiking sticks themselves and I was afraid of them getting scratched by the spikes with the rubber covers missing (which were also very difficult to put on to cover the spikes). These are a good idea but they are not user friendly for everyone.

Easily fitted and adjusted and very good due to lots of wet leaves on paths where I live, I've also had other cane users enquiring where I bought them.

I knew I’d need something for my week in Lapland as I did not want to stay inside. Checking on Amazon these ice spikes seemed to be the best thing. They are retractable and worked like a dream. A crazy thing to purchase however I could not have managed without them & I would unreservedly recommend.
