Good for hammocks when used with a center line (ridge line)
This is a practical review for this tarp... Im not going to comment on all its technical details, you can find them in the product description.I took this tarp backpacking with my daughter for an overnight hammock backpacking trip. Out of the bag the tarp is a nice heavy duty material with a good coating on it, though wind was not a problem this trip i am confident it would hold up well in the wind. The tarp edges were finished nicely and the tieouts seemed to be stitched strongly in place. Overall the tarp is well made and sturdy. Coverage is good for one person/hammock. If you use a double hammock and like stretching it out as long as it will go you will want a larger tarp. I use a double hammock with a ridgeline which when hung under the tarp allows the hammock to sag shortning the distance between the ends of the hammock and allowing me to sleep on a diagonal which is much flatter and more comfortable for overnight sleeping. With this set up the tarp works great. I slept comfortably that night, and although it did not rain i was the only one that slept in a hammock that woke up dry. I have not used this tarp in rain yet but have no doubt it would shed heavy rain and keep you dry. This tarp is not ultra light. Its good quality and durable though but it does have some heft to it and does take up some space. The guylines are somewhat disappointing, they work but i expect the tarp to outlast them by far. I will eventually replace them with 550 paracord but will use them till they break. The aluminum stakes are good and light weight the hole in them is a bit rough though so you may want to tie a loop on them rather than run your lines through the hole. The guyline hardware will be difficult to figure out how to use iif you are unfamiliar with it and it comes with no instructions on how to use the aluminum guyline tabs, this wasn't a problem for me as i have used similar tabs in the past. This tarp met my expectations perfectly and im happy with it.I purchased this tarp for full price. I was not paid or compensated in any way for this review.

Good craftsmanship, but a little small to be practical for an adult.
I bought this to replace a standard tarp I use as a rain fly. It comes with 6 standard tensioners, 2 triangle tensioners, and no instructions how to use them. In my opinion, the regular tensioners will do and I included pictures if you bought this and are completely baffled on how they work. (If you want to use the triangle tensioners, just google image search them but I've use them in the past and they aren't worth the trouble) It's a high quality but the tarp is about 2 feet too short and 4 feet too narrow to be a successful rain fly during a downpour. (Any wind and one end of you is going to get wet.) Having said that, it's a great sun barrier and if you want to be more aware of your surroundings while in your in your hammock it's a good buy. I will probably upgrade to an eno product as I always end up doing anyway.

Waterproof and lightweight
I like the design it kept me dry in my hammock with the exception of the fog. I wish it had come with a set of instructions and recommendations on use. With that said the bag it comes with is really nice it's made of the same materials as the tarp and has a sinche cord. The cordage included is nice and light weight, holds tight on itself. If your looking to save ounces you can leave the aluminum tensioners at home and tie nonslip knots such as a prusik knot. The stakes included are perfect they ar lightweight and short the resemble the mar mini stakes and are very sturdy but would recommended puting stakes in at aggressive angle. This was used on the AT for price and weight.

Great value! Excellent little tarp for the money. I love the name "Goat Range" too.
Purchased this 10 months ago & used it on 5 or 6 backpacking & camping excursions so far. It has held up fine & seems well constructed. For the money, it is a good buy. It will definitely be coming along on my camping & pack trips this spring/summer/fall, as it is super handy to have.I mostly use it in addition to my small tent for a cooking/hangout area, & it serves the purpose well. It's nice to have a place to sit & hang out when it's raining, & not be stuck cramped in your sleeping tent. I've also used it as a camp "sun shade" for the dogs, & a rain/wind shelter for my pack goats when they come on hikes. It's not the lightest tarp out there, but I don't mind the few extra ounces, especially if the goats are coming along on the trip & I can shove it in their pack saddles. (They love coming on trips & camping out too.)When not in use, it hangs out in my vehicle emergency kit just in case I can't get home (road washouts or fires) & have to camp out in the elements for a day or two (I live in a rural area & this has happened more often than I would like.) All in all, I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a small, inexpensive tarp for occasional use.-A crazy goat/dog/horse outdoorslady in MT.

Not to impressed
Not to impressed on the hex tarp the way it's cut don't cover much in my opinion bought another brand for the wife's hammock it was plenty big enough to cover hammock and more but this one isn't that big to me will find something else to do with it instead of what I bought it for

Tie outs came loose in the lightest breeze
Tarp works good. The only issue I had was with the tie outs. They couldn't handle the lightest of breezes without coming loose so I had to improvise so they would stay.

Too small for a hammock unless it's for shade.
Provides nice shade and there's plenty of rope provided but it's too small for typical hammock camping purposes.
