Croatia: Istria: with Rijeka and the Slovenian Adriatic (Bradt Travel Guides)

We've been going to Istria for over five years and now have two small apartments in Rovinj...despite all our travels there, we found numerous new and exciting tips for exploring the region. This book and its kindle equivalent are gems for wandering this beautiful part of Europe.

I always buy a travel guide whenever I visit anywhere new so that I can plan ahead an make the most of my time. I like to go off the beaten track and experience things other than the general tourist attractions. Whilst the book was great for an overview of Istria, I found that it didnt give enough detail about each of the areas, and because of the distance and travel times between different towns and resorts, only a very small portion of the book was relevant to the areas we were able to visit. This may have been due to me not realising just how big the Istrian riviera is and how long it would take to travel from one part to another. Unless you intend to spend a lot of time travelling around, I would recommend a smaller guide that focuses just on the area of Istria that you are visiting.

Purchased this for a holiday to Istria back in July and it was indispensable. Some of the recommendations in the book would never have been found with a more generic guide book and the descriptions of the attractions were always interesting and accurate. Can't recommend this book enough if you are visiting the area.
