Good design, inexpensive, useful
I have four of these now, I prefer this design to others - they hold a good number of bait blocks and the design keeps them high and dry until they are needed.I bait mine with sunflower seeds for a few days until they are being used or ignored by the rats then I upgrade to the blocks.

A little too small...
I read a lot of reviews before buying these. My primary target was squirrels. The moment i opened the box, i realized that it wouldn’t work - at least for our squirrels.Living on a large lake in a forested, rural area where many local denizens actually hunt and eat squirrel, it may be that our squirrels are larger. It has been several years since i lived in an urban area to know for sure. I saw the plastic plate inside that you could take out, but i still didn’t think that would matter. It seems like this is roughly 2 1/2” to 3” PVC pipe (i didn’t measure it but that was the feeling i got). I know that all rodents can get into tight places but i was primarily trying to calculate was head/shoulder size and opening dimension, and i just don’t see it. I truly wish they offered a slightly larger size because the concept i think is valid. Moreover, if you are after chipmunks, i think this size is perfect. One other concern about these traps was the bait and my dogs. I had finally figured out a location outside the invisible fence to put these, but i would worry about them getting into the bait. Thankfully, the bait is an anticoagulant and not a neurotoxin so canines can be treated with vitamin K (one of my dogs got into a neighbors mouse station as a puppy). All in all i do think this trap is well thought out, just a little small. I thought the trap would be excellent zip tied to a large tree limb or even trunk.

Unique design is perfect.
I needed to buy bait stations for a huge rat problem in NYC. The standard box type of bait stations would have been stolen as soon as I put them out. Then I discovered these which could be zip tied to the fence, even at 3 feet above the ground near the top of the garbage can lid. At first the rats did not eat the bait inside. But about two weeks later, they started munching on the bait. About 2 weeks after that I started finding dead rats around the garbage cans every few days. My advice to you is to be patient and allow the bait to work over a period of time. That's the way they are supposed to work. They are very easy to refill as well.

Go Into The Light Rodent!!!
Sure, I could DIY something similar to this most clever Instrument of Rat Doom! And making my own would only cost me slightly more in gas, time, materials and effort to create something inferior. This bait station is the Acme of the industry IMHO! It has a flat bottom that promotes stability - something anything I'd have cobbled together would most certainly lack. It offers flat against the wall capability that's a real plus in my book! And all the mounting features give this rodent feeding machine a versatility I see as unparalleled! It is an elegant industrial design marvel of utilitarian simplicity and quality fabrication. But all of that would pale if the device didn't perform. And perform it certainly does! When rats come calling for the winter decisive victory over vermin becomes paramount. And I found myself needing the right vehicle to dispense an equally effective bait. Now I have the tools! Within a few short days I regained human control of my home and outbuildings. It's a mighty fine feeling that I freely recommend!

Destroyed in Days
The product seems to work to work for others. That said, garden-variety squirrels tore mine to pieces in under a week. While I didn't mind seeing the squirrel population in my yard dip as a result (they gorged on the bait within and several died), the basic promise of the product - protecting the bait from all but target-sized animals - immediately failed for me.

Easy to use and very sturdy
We bought three of these to use with JT Eaton bait and we love them. They are super easy to use and much larger and sturdier than I thought they would be.Reason I took one star off:There are black inserts in the tube that essentially try to deter larger animals from getting to the bait. If you want to go after squirrels or larger animals you can easily pop these out. However, the squirrels have been able to pop these out themselves when they want to get to the bait enough. We have a pretty significant chipmunk issue which has led to our concrete walk way breaking, so they are our target, not so much the squirrels. So it’s a little frustrating when the squirrels are able to get in as they decimate the bait. It doesn’t happen all the time so it’s not a huge issue.

Vole Bait Station Works!
Last winter, spring, and summer voles ate the roots of so many of my plants. I tried trapping (every type of trap), smoke bombing, and the electronic noise emitters. They did not work. Voles continued their nonstop destruction.I loaded 4 block baits and placed near a vole hole. I used some cardboard to make a nice dark tunnel from the hole to the opening of the bait station. After a week of no feeding, I moved the bait station and again made a nice dark tunnel from the hole to the bait station. It took several days for the feeding to start, but finally it did. I kept an eye on the bait, refilling when necessary. I think those voles are dead because the baits are no longer being eaten. I plan to move that bait station close to an active vole tunnel. I bought 2 more of the same bait stations. This past summer the voles decimated my garden. I'm hopeful this coming summer I will enjoy the fruits of my labor!I used Kaput Mouse Blocks - 4lb.
