MikroTik RB5009UPr+S+IN

I've always used Cisco IOS based routers, but the functionality and versatility of the MictoTik is more price competitive - it might even be more versatile in many ways and certainly a lot more "open". So far the software is solid and performance is outstanding. I'm hooked on MicroTik now.

Great little but powerful router if you want more than your ISP offers. I have fiber BB and this adds a lot of functionality that the mainstream "HUB" doesnt offer. I wont bash the provided HUB but his truly opens up the options including remote VPN(Wireguard) and the ability to set your LAN to any address you want rather than the the forced RFC1918 192.169.0.x

Good product, no regrets, best router (although sadly I'm underusing it as I don't have PoE APs )

Great for small business

It is a rock solid router for those who needs consistent/reliable connections and flexibility. Unfortunately the user interface is not for everyone. You need to know what are you looking for and what are you doing. It is more likely a professional equipment rather than a standard home user. Doesn't have wireless of course. All the RJ 45 ports are POE+ in or out it can be configurable. And no you can not chose different poe profiles for different ports. The standard you choose will apply all the ports. So you need to do your planning before you purchase or add to the system.

I love MikroTik. I have had their products for on my shelf and mounted on my ceilings for years now. I had a hEXs, which served me well for roughly 5 years. But I was running into the max performance that little router could muster. The hardware was getting to its limit with what I was doing. GeoIP address lists were hogging 90% of the ram in it. Time for an upgrade, and WOW. This RB5009, barring any hardware failure, will be the heart of my network for quite some time. I have TDS fiber WAN and it's connecting to the TDS modem at 2.5G. Plenty for a long time. Backing up the hEXs config and importing it to the 5009 had some hurdles, but for the most part it was easy. The RB5009 was in "home" mode out of the box, which locked out many advanced features like the scheduler. Once I figured that out and swapped it to advanced mode, the .rsc backup file went in without a hitch pretty much. I love this thing. LOTS of power in a small package. However, keep in mind, this is not a beginner router for SOHO. There is some level of plug-n-play with the default configuration, but it's still a steep learning curve if you aren't familiar with at least some basic networking knowledge. Overall, 5/5

Router compatto e molto performante, dall'elevata qualità costruttiva. Utile la presenza della funzionalità POE per alimentare mediante il solo cavo Ethernet dispositivi a valle, quali Access Point o telecamere. Il sistema operativo RouterOS è estremamente versatile e lo rende adatto a configurazioni totalmente personalizzate o complesse. Sistema adatto agli smanettoni o esperti di Networking che abbiano voglia di dedicare del tempo per esplorare tutte le funzionalità a disposizione, ma non molto adatto per utenti che vogliono una soluzione facile da usare e veloce da configurare. Utili funzionalità come CAPsMAN per centralizzare il controllo degli Access Point Mikrotik e la possibilità di riconfigurare qualsiasi porta in base alle proprie esigenze (es. WAN, LAN, Bridge, etc.). Ideale, sia come router/gateway stand-alone, ma soprattutto se si vuole mettere in piedi un'infrastruttura basata su Mikrotik, che rimane uno dei migliori vendor per qualità/prezzo nel settore, per il segmento SME.
