Good instructions & paint colors to apply. This kit is for the experienced & serious builder. Excellent in its detail. It compares closely to the photos my father left me. My father flew this plane in WWII in the South Pacific with the 347th fighter group, 339th fighter squadron, 13th US Army Air Corps. Review: Well engineered model - I am in my mid 70s and have built quite a few models in my life. TAMIYA is the best model brand I’ve ever assembled. The seams are very tight and require little preparation before assembly. It was a joy to build this model. Their attention to detail make you feel like a master craftsman. ## Features - Root > Home > Aircraft > World War II Aircraft ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B09X78L6T9 | | Additional Features | Portable | | Age Range (Description) | Kid | | Age Range Description | Kid | | Art Craft Kit Type | Plastic Model Kit | | Best Sellers Rank | #158,539 in Toys & Games ( See Top 100 in Toys & Games ) #3,529 in Craft Kits | | Brand | TAMIYA | | Brand Name | TAMIYA | | Color | Unvarnished | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 90 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 04950344611232 | | Included Components | Weights, canopy masking stickers, parts to recreate two each of 150- and 300-gallon drop tanks, and a full-color painting guide | | Item Dimensions | 9.45 x 14.96 x 9.65 inches | | Item Type Name | hobby model airplane building kits | | Item Weight | 1.5 pounds | | Item dimensions L x W x H | 9.45 x 14.96 x 9.65 inches | | Manufacturer | TAMIYA | | Manufacturer Part Number | 61123 | | Material | Plastic | | Material Type | Plastic | | Model Name | TAM61123 | | Model Number | 61123 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Paint Type | Oil | | Product Style | Classic | | Scale | 1:48 | | Seasons | All Seasons | | Size | Taille unique | | Subject Character | P-10 | | Theme | Military | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Warranty Description | Limited warranty for manufacture defects only | ## Product Details - **Age Range (Description):** Kid - **Brand:** TAMIYA - **Color:** Unvarnished - **Item dimensions L x W x H:** 9.45 x 14.96 x 9.65 inches - **Theme:** Military ## Images ![Tamiya Model Airplane - 1/48 P-38 J Lightning - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/510IFlgatOL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The build! *by A***R on July 11, 2026* Best P38 kit I have seen yet.
