No one makes games for pharmacists. Firemen have games. Police officers. Real-estate tycoons. Surgeons. Well now hospital pharmacists have their own board game: Kits & Vials. When we were first building the Kit Check solution, there seemed to be a never-ending stream of issues that popped up around pharmacy kits. The tedious kit checking was the first point raised. Then later there was the need to manage recalls. Then to determine which kits had expiring medications. Kits & Vials Board Game The questions kept coming. Can you help me avoid State Board of Pharmacy fines? Can you help me identify the source of drug diversion in the hospital? Can you help with shortage management? How can we improve kit accuracy? Will this help us reduce pharmacy technician overtime? More recently we were asked to look into tracking anesthesia syringes and help reduce medication stock-outs in the OR. Wow! Who would have thought that the lowly hospital pharmacy kit encountered so many different operational challenges? For those familiar with the children's board game Chutes and Ladders you will see how all of these questions made us recognize that hospital pharmacies faced lots of chutes and had no ladders when it came to kits. Thankfully, Kit Check is that metaphorical ladder and it gave us an idea of how to better explain the breadth of the solution's features. There you have it - the origin story behind Kits & Vials. While it is suitable for children, it may be that pharmacy technicians and pharmacists will have more appreciation for its nuances.
