Billet for Making Knife Blades (Twisted Damascus)

This Damascus is beautiful. One thing you should know is that it comes quenched and hardened. It is a pain to drill through without carbide bits. Buy this, by all means buy it, but realize you will want to anneal it before working with it.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! This damascus was made with internal defects. I had spent a pretty penny on this damascus trying to use it to make a knife. Well, while making this knife through stock removal I began polishing one of the ends and found a 3/4" defect in the middle of the metal. I tried grinding it out. Didn't work. I don't know how deep the crack goes, but the knife is worthless. I can't sell something I know is defective. Thanks...... :-(

Awaiting other paterns, this is the real deal.

After many hours of work, found several inclusions/separations between the layers. After all the work, billet was useless for my intended purpose. So much time wasted. -UPDATE- GREAT customer service! After writing the company about the issues I had, they immediately sent me a new piece of steel. This second one was just completed and was much better constructed. Some minor inclusions on the edge, but nothing that I could not work around. The new piece was solidly welded and worked great.

Made with two pieces of thinner steel smushed together awful for knifes. Impossible to get a good edge lots of impurities absolutely a waist of money.

Pricey for a knife blank but arrived on time. Haven't gotten to using these blanks much yet but so far are workable. Wish they had more patterns!

Bold pattern, comes pretty deeply etched. Seems like the maker left it in the etchant too long. Doesn't really change much since it'll get ground off during stock removal.
