The use of English as a medium of instruction indiverse subject areas has become extremely popular inAustrian schools over the last decade. This bookclarifies typical misconceptions that appear to bepersistent among many minds, with the aim to path theway for bilingual education in the seemingly lesspotential CLIL subject mathematics.This contribution to CLIL research represents acombination of theory and practice, since problemsand difficulties as well as motivations and reasonsare addressed from two perspectives - a theoreticalone (including definitions, learning theories) andone based on teacher interviews, providing an insightinto their practices and experiences. Therefore, thistext offers assistance and support for teachers whowant to introduce this innovative approach in theirmathematical classrooms, but are not yet sure aboutits realisation.
