Crock Pot SCVC609C-SS 6-Quart Oval Programmable Slow Cooker w/ Little Dipper

The crock pot we received was not the one pictured. It was the same one we already have and hate.

I bought this model at a hardware store on sale one year ago Christmas. Must have been a closeout because this is an older model. My first slow cooker. I only did corn beef , brisket and pot roast a few times. Recently, on low from the start, it goes to boil and overcooks unless I watch the time . This defeats the purpose. I set a large pot roast on low after searing it separately and it was perfect at 3 hours when I tasted it for a recipe that called for 8-10 hours. Sadly, I let it go to 5 hours and the meat was moist looking but stringy and obviously blown out, even with lots of liquid still in the pan. I won't buy this model again.

Nice size Crockpot, good for a family size meal. It arrived when they said it would. Nice digital timer,shuts off when you set the timer to shut off.Only problem with the crock pot is the handle on the top of the lid. After one use from the heat it cracks very easy.

Love this new crockpot.. I have used it a few times now. the new crockpots do cook at a higher temperature than the old ones. That's why this one is perfect. I can program it to cook only as long as I want it to, then it goes to the warming temp. I just add a little more liquid in the beginning when adding my ingredients, just to make sure nothing burns while I am away. I just pour out the rest of the liquid or save the meat broth.

So frustrated with the smell of burning plastic/paint that this thing puts off, even after years of use, I am finally going to buy a different brand. Its such a bad smell it over-powers the nice roast or other meal smell you look forward to in the home when slow-cooking. Bad thing is, the burnt plastic smell lingers for 1-2 days after cooking. I've read other comments that are similar, along with how this model cooks way to hot, which could explain why it is happening..? Hoping whatever I buy does not have the same issue.

This particular unit is known for its high heat in all settings, High/Low/Warm. At low temperature, a roast was finished in about 5 hours versus the normal 8-10. At warm, the liquids continued to boil. The controls are easy to use, the product looks nice, but I can't recommend it due to it not living up the Crock-Pot name nor being a "slow" cooker.

I gave this as a gift for Christmas and my brother was delighted with it. It came on time and was everything it was promised to be.

Product works as described. No complaints.
