The little engine that can!
The little engine that could! This thing can MOVE. Honestly did not expect it to work as well as it does for the price. Would absolutely recommend this produce.

Noisy at start up, then runs silent
Just got it. Initially disappointed that it comes with a speaker and mandatory “train sounds”. Manual did not have a disable the noise instruction. Fortunately, the sound stops after a short bit.It takes two AAA batteries and seems to have enough pulling power.

Exactly what I was looking for.
Ordered this 2 piece train cars. Arrived on time. Worked with 30 year old wooden and plastic Brio and Tomy train set. Grandkid loved it.

Love it but it’s slow
The media could not be loaded. This is such a cute toy. We have magnet Melissa and Doug trains for rugs and floors. We wanted to buy our toddlers a battery operated train set but they’re way to expensive and when you have to buy two, it’s insane right now. This battery operated train works with our current train set. It takes 2 AAA batteries and I will let you know how long it lasts with our two train living boys. I will say the train moves extremely slow. I’m not sure if that’s normal but it’s too slow for our fast moving toddlers so they try and help it along. The sound volume is great. It’s not too terribly loud nor annoying. The sound only plays when you hit the forward button. We don’t have tracks (my husband is going to build some for our train set that doesn’t fit regular tracks) and when you hit the reverse button the train does go into reverse but in a circle and derails. I’m hoping this doesn’t happen on the tracks my husband plans to build. If you’re on the fence about buying it, do it! Our boys love it!

Weak engine; people don't fit; windshield falls off
When we first opened this battery-powered locomotive, my toddler and I were thrilled by it. It goes forward AND backward! It makes choo-choo and ding-ding noises! It makes a special hissing noise when you press the "Stop" button! And it comes with its own engineer, its own passenger, and its own passenger car!We were also thrilled by how fast it moved compared to our other battery-powered engines. In this photo, you can see that it has crashed into our Brio engine from behind, because it goes almost twice as fast as the slow and steady Brio.Pretty quickly, though, we discovered that this toy was not as perfect as we thought. Although it does generally perform well on standard wooden tracks, it lacks the engine power to make it up any significant hills. We had to keep a close eye on it and give it a boost on anything over about a 20% grade.Unfortunately, the little people who come with the train do not fit into it very well. You have to make them sit exactly right, or you can't close the doors. Sometimes their arms end up slightly sticking out, causing the train to crash when it does through a tunnel or passes close to an obstacle. And because there's nothing to hold the people in the train (they don't clip in), they are all too easy to lose.As one final complaint, the clear acrylic windshield (which we thought was a highlight!) quickly fell off and got lost. The train doesn't look nearly as good without its windshield. A more robust design would have been appreciated.So... either get this toy for an older kid (5+) who will take meticulous care of it and boost when it goes uphill, or expect it to get stuck, broken, lost, and otherwise severely compromised. Oh well!

boys love little trains
I had gotten the older boy a mini Christmas Train ornament but it had some small pieces so the 3 year old could not have one, I knew he's feel left out and then saw this, He doesn't like people and won't play with them so I knew we were ok with this, Put the people up till he's older, He loved it! His hands fit right around it, He liked the other train car and he liked that he didn't have to put them on track and could go anywhere,
