However, for hand sewing I would still recommend lightly waxing the thread to reduce tangles as hand sewing will always lead to tangles as the thread is handled. $15 for a spool of thread might seem expensive if you are just starting to look into higher quality materials, but it is a fair price and absolutely worth it.
