The Highlander Next Door by Janet Chapman
I can't not believe there is a Janet Chapman book that I don't love but The Highlander Next Door is it. I am so disappointed in this book. Her books are mostly romance and the Hero is a Hero. This book not so much. There was very little romance between Niall and Birch and I really never did like Birch. She was such a bitch to everybody mostly Niall and when she finally decided she wanted to sleep with him there was nothing romantic at all about it. She walked in and got into his bed. There were too many secondary characters in this book to keep up with. If you have never read any of her other highlander books then you will be confused at who is who. The fight scene at the compound with all the men didn't make any sense to me other than to add some magic and lightening to the story. Even the story line with Birch being the director of the women's shelter was scattered. If you want to read some really good Janet Chapman check out her original highlander series staring with Charming The Highlander. Fantastic book.

Love this book
I have this book in paperback and wanted a copy to read when i was traveling or else to read at work during breaks. I love anything that Janet Chapman wrote. I’m just so sad to know that she is no longer alive to create such amazing stories where you become invested with the characters. I feel like all of her characters have passed away with her. She made all the characters in her books so real and you felt like you knew them on a personal level. You will never be disappointed if you buy ANY of the books she has written.

Not one of my favorites from her But I still liked it
Genre: Romance/paranormal/Time travel relatedAuthor: Janet ChapmanBook: The Highlander Next Door (Spellbound Falls #6)My Star Rating: 4 out of 5Will I read I read it again? MaybeThis review is my honest opinion and I have fully read this book.I love Janet Chapman and all of her series. Some of her books are 5 out of 5 and then others are 4 out of 5. This one is 4 out of 5. I liked this one but I didn't LOVE it.Usually I can fall into one of her books and fall in love with all the characters. In this book her main character Birch was kind of annoying. I felt that she really stuck her foot in a lot of things she should have not done or if she did do she should really be smart about how she did it.I really had a problem with how Birch was in this book. I rolled my eyes when she did need Chief Niall had to rescue her. Because again she was not being smart. In real life she could have been killed because she was stupid on how to go about doing things. What did redeem the book for me were the other characters in this book. Chief Niall was great as well as his First officer. I also can't wait to read more of her books about the newest god. It was also great to see new faces as well as some of the old faces in here.Over all I did like the read and still love Janet Chapman and can't wait for her other books.

The Highlander Next Door (A Spellbound Falls Romance Book 6)
Birch Callahan has witnessed her mother's four marriages and doesn't want anything to do with a man. She runs a women's shelter. She can't figure out her new neighbor, Niall MacKeage. He's the chief of police of Spellbound Falls. He's insightful, compassionate, and sexy. She's also falling for him and he acts like someone from the twelfth century.Niall knows Birch is attracted to him even though she distrusts men. He also knows she has a secret---something that drives her to place herself in danger for the women of the shelter.Niall would rush to Birch's side to protect her from harm, but their secrets stand between them. If he wants to keep her, he'll have to reveal his own secret. Great story.

Female lead is a shrew
I don’t understand all the high reviews for this author. All of the female leads in this series, especially this one, are difficult if not impossible to like and are frequently borderline shrewish. I kept going through the series thinking maybe I would finally see the appeal but I never did. I love strong, independent female characters; that is not what is in this series. They are better described as rude, arrogant, prideful, self-absorbed idiots who give a bad name to women.

Believe the Magic!
I've loved all of Janet Chapman's books, and been caught up in the fantastical world of time traveling Highlanders, mighty powerful Atlanteans, and the beautiful Maine landscapes where they all came together. I'm not sure if this is the last story Janet told, but even if it is, it is well worth the read, I guarantee it.

I have to say there isn’t a book that Janet Chapman has written that I haven’t loved and this book is no exception
The Highlander Next Door (Spellbound Falls series Book 6) by Janet ChapmanTime Travel, Highlanders and strong women!!! I have to say there isn’t a book that Janet Chapman has written that I haven’t loved and this book is no exception. The Highlander Series, Midnight Bay Series and the Spellbound Falls Series I have read and loved and reread. Because they are that good, as well Janet has a way of mentioning characters from all three series and tying them together that is believable and nice for the reader to see old characters they love.As for this one well we have Niall who is a displaced twelfth century laird, and Birch is a well educated counsler on a mission to help abused women. Their story is involved and a page turner. I read from beggining to end, with no skimming which means I was entertained! I won’t give spoilers but I will give the book 5 out of 5 stars. :)

Yes, ohhhh YES
Just when you think there’s no more of the story to tell, Janet Chapman delivers another beautiful love story. This one has all the twists and turns and, if I’m honest, they were times I wasn’t quite sure what the ending would be. Read it for yourself and tell me if you don’t agree it was worth the journey!

I always love Janet,s work. I need to slow down a savour every word because I'm all too soon morning the end of her books. This one didn't disappoint. If you haven't read her books before, I encourage you to go to the beginning of the highlander series to enjoy the journey of Grace. I eagerly await the next book, but for now, I think I'll go back and savour this one! I'm glad kindle came out as now I can take all Janet's books along with me without my husband getting mad at the extra suitcase Lol! Enjoy, I sure did
