An interesting book about Jack.
Unfortunately, "Jack the Ripper" is a character that we can only guess at many of the details. Many authors have attempted to give their interpretations of the events. This author does a good job of presenting his theory about the events and gives good information. At the time I bought the book, the price was marked as zero. I'm not sure if I would have paid for the book, since the library is a great resource for free books. If you need to decide whether the book is worth the price, do use the "Look Inside" feature on its product page. Having read that set of pages, you will be in a better position to decide if you wish to purchase it.If you would like a partially-humorous look at the events of that time, you might enjoy a book I just read last night, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight (Elseworlds) , one of DC's imaginary stories. In this one, Bruce Wayne lived in the late 1800's, and went after Jack the Ripper. Some of the background information I recognized from this book. But, even though Batman solved the case, even today, we do not know who Jack the Ripper really was.

Jack the Ripper, did he get away with it or NOT?
Jack the Ripper by Alexander Kennedy Review 8/9/17He was his era’s most wanted man, leaving behind him a string of mutilated victims that terrified the world. Yet despite a wealth of tantalizing evidence—eyewitnesses who saw him with his victims, his taunting letters to police, and forensic evidence gathered from the dead—he has never been conclusively unmasked.Alexander Kennedy gives a compact, readable overview of the Ripper saga, examining the killings from every side. Here we experience the desperate race of police to stop the Ripper before he strikes again, and the role of newspapers in shaping the Ripper legend. We look at each of the so-called “canonical” murders, and also the possibility that the Ripper might have killed more women than generally realized. And then we chase down the many answers to the most burning question of all: Whodunit? Both novices and hardcore “Ripperologists” will appreciate Alexander Kennedy’s fresh, insightful take on history’s most iconic killer."One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the twentieth century" - Jack the RipperInteresting points:• The Ripper’s taunting correspondence with police—and the possibility that it was a hoax.• The role of Queen Victoria in the Ripper investigation.• How the Ripper murders led to the birth of “profiling.”• The tragic histories of the Ripper’s victims.• The evidence for and against each of the prime suspects in the murders.• Famous men accused of the Ripper murders, including Lewis Carroll, Arthur Conan Doyle, and Prince Albert Victor.• Modern day investigations into the killings by mystery author Patricia Cornwell and others. What did I like? The above list of points was interesting. I don’t have the burning desire to solve the case or even to read everything that has ever been written but this was sent to me from the author to review and I did find how he approached the case intriguing. I have read other accounts from different authors but this was really a different approach. I find that I liked it!What will you like? If you could say without sounding off, you will find this a refreshing look at one of the most wanted and horrific killers of his time. You actually see the research that the author did. I think that most authors that I have read in the past were more interested in the actual killings and not the real dirt about the women and the work that the police did at the time to try to find the killer. Then he even takes it a step further in comparing the different approaches that others have taken, including the FBI. It’s odd, there have been more horrific killers in the past but I guess the fact that the Ripper got away with it is the draw that keeps bringing more attention to just this one guy! Or did he get away with it???? Some of the accounts that are included in this version lead us into another direction that I really would like to feel is the actual truth. He didn’t get away with it, he was caught and punished but just not for these killings. If he was punished for something or even if it was a mental breakdown! So long as it was some type of punishment, that would suit me fine!!!!!!

Why are we so fascinated with Jack?
True crime works are not on my normal reading agenda, but like thousands over the past 128 or so years, the case of Jack the Ripper has been of interest to me. Between August and November 1888 five women were brutally murdered and defiled in the Whitechapel district in London. The murder was never identified or caught.Very few individuals living in the Western World have not heard of Jack and dozens upon dozens of movies have been made and it would be difficult to number and track how often this character has been addressed in print. Why the fascination? Like the author of this work and most authors and researchers; I simply do not know. Say the name to anyone on the street though and they will know who you are talking about. This little book gives a very nice overview of the crimes, their investigation and the victims involved. I will tell you right now that there is little to no new information found on the pages of this book but I will say that the author has done a very nice job of presenting his material and has given us a very nice overview and summation...very, very readable.I suppose I like this case not so much for the murder aspect, but I feel that reading of this case gives us a very good look at the Victorian mind during that particular era and thereby, giving us good insight to our own way of looking at things. Much has changed over the years but a surprisingly number of attitudes and behavior traits have lingered on. I find that despite the fact that science and technology have taken great leaps forward since 1888 but humans have really not changed all that much.Lots of information in this little book; a very well written little book, which will cost you less than a slice of pizza at your local quick-stop. Pretty good deal in my opinion.I highly recommend this one.

a perfect summer read for those wanting interesting, without wanting chick lit. I enjoyed it a lot
I fancied a light read on a topic that interests me and am happy to have found this. While the topic of Jack the Ripper has been covered in great details over the years, this is a light refreshing read, summing up a lot of previous theories, and the techniques used and since dismissed. For some of us, this subject is just so intriguing and this book catered to our curiosity without being gory, perfectly. The writing style isn’t heavy, I was able to skim and read as I felt, meaning that it suited me as a light summer read. I’m not one for chick lit, so to find something of interest that isn’t too heavy or highbrow is a wonderful surprise. The kindle option means that I received this as soon as I bought it, but of course I had to read the book before writing an honest review. The book isn’t long, there aren’t any graphics to worry about, and it was a good read. There isn’t more I can say without spoiling a book.DISCLAIMER - I purchased this item at a reduced rate, to allow me to offer an honest, unbiased and hopefully useful review. The points I make reflect my personal opinion and experience with the item being reviewed. I cannot offer reviews based on long term use, as I am required to give an honest review within a specific time limit. However, I still try to supply as much information as I can in terms of my initial experiences of the product, and the ingredients and/or contents of the product. Who was Jack the Ripper?? Will we ever know
I have read quite a few books from Alexander Kennedy over recent weeks and months and i find his books to be very interesting and from a different perspective from any other books or stories which i have read.He is an excellent author who obviously carries out an extensive amount of research, the sheer effort put into each and every book is to be applauded. Due to his excellent writing skills i am finding myself more and more interested to read about icons from a personal life perspective rather than just knowing what they created, achieved or invented, Alexander Kennedy tells the story of how they struggled to achieve their fame or fortune, who helped or even who hindered them in their journey. With this book : Jack The Ripper - I have personally watched a few different programmes on tv about Jack the Ripper and thought i knew the whole story but there a few things in this book that i didn't already know and also being written from a reasearchers point of view it is unbias of the many possibilities of who Jack the Ripper really was. The only thing this book didn't give me was a definite answer but nobody knows so i didn't truely expect to find out his true identity.I have received this at a reduced cost or free in return for an honest review and I would be happy to point out any failures or flaws with any product I review as much as I will also highlight good point and versatility with products I have reviewed. I have completed my review with other buyers in mind and I hope that the information is of use to any prospective buyers.

Good read
Jack the Ripper: A Life of Crime | The True Story of Jack the Ripper (Short Reads Historical Biographies of Famous People) Kindle Edition Is a good read. 1219 pages. Very well written and gets you hooked right from the beginning. Leaving no stone unturned it writes about the facts and investigations into Jack The Ripper. Jack the Ripper is, perhaps, the most notorious serial killer in history. He only claimed a handful of victims, which does not put him at the top of any list; his barbarism and violence was certainly villainous, but they were not, as such things are measured, much worse than most—he did, at least, kill his victims before he performed his mutilations. Nor was he the only serial killer who escaped capture. I need to read again I case I have missed anything the first time reading it. You also get to download a Bonus book Speed Reading too for free. I may have to read some of the other books in the series too. I received this item for free for my honest review and I would never recommend anything that I would not be prepared to try myself.

A great little read!
I love a good crime novel, whether fiction or true crime & this ebook is right up my street and I read it in one sitting. It's an easy read & it's packed full of information and it grabbed my attention from the start.Like most people I am aware of the story of Jack the Ripper and the murder of a number of prostitutes in Whitechapel. The specific details had evaded me so far and I commenced this ebook not knowing a great deal regarding the number of victims or possible suspects in the case. The ebook is made up of 10 chapters, which cover Jack the Ripper's gruesome killings, the flawed investigations and limitations of the time, a background on each of the victims and their final moments, profiling information, and a list of prime suspects.I finished the ebook feeling well informed on the subject. Please note that I received this eBook free of charge in exchange for an honest & fair review. All opinions expressed are my own.

As someone who loves a good crime novel, whether fiction or true crime, this ebook is right up my street and I read it in one sitting. Admittedly, it's an easy read but it's packed full of information and it grabbed (and maintained) my attention from the start.Like most people I am aware of the story of Jack the Ripper and the murder of a number of prostitutes in Whitechapel, but the specific details had evaded me thus far and I commenced this ebook not knowing a great deal regarding the number of victims or possible suspects in the case. The ebook is made up of 10 chapters, which cover Jack the Ripper's gruesome killings, the flawed investigations and limitations of the time, a background on each of the victims and their final moments, profiling information, and a list of prime suspects.I finished the ebook feeling well informed on the subject. Another great book by Alexander Kennedy.
