Kassel 15 day key wound pendulum clock
The packing is safe enough to ship from US to Asia by air. The material used is good. The quality is also good. I find that it was made by a very famous clock factory in China that produce tip-top quality clocks. My clock runs very good. It runs silently but strikes brilliantly with very loud chime sound. I am still satisfied with the price I paid even though I paid the freight more than the listed price of the clock. One point I want to share with other interested buyers is that the length of the pendulum shaft is not long enough for user to adjust the overall pendulum length and keep the pendulum swing exactly 1 second in a complete period. Mine runs faster initially, I have to lengthen the pendulum by adjusting the knob until I cannot adjust the length further longer. I take the advice of other Amazon users and add weight to the bottom part of the pendulum. (The reason behind is that we don't need to lengthen the shaft, but to lower the center of gravity of the overall pendulum by adding weight near the bottom part of the pendulum). After doing so, I only need a few trials of fine adjustment to the knob in three days,... and within five days after its arrival. It runs without gaining or losing more than 1 second a day for the last two weeks. I recommend this product to those who are tired of replacing batteries for quartz clocks. (Nowadays, quartz clocks are not running so precisely, I have the experience that many quartz clocks today are also having the problem of gaining or losing time to an unacceptable extent, we can do nothing but to discard them. At least we can adjust mechanical running clocks for their running speed. I remember more than 30 years ago, those common brands quartz clocks and watches were produced under very strict QC and run very accurately. Why don't technologies improve now while accuracy of quartz clocks are deteriorating.)

Excellent clock, great value
This is a great little clock. Nice, sturdy wooden cabinet. The Chime sounds beautiful. It did need to be adjusted a bit as any clock needs from time to time, especially in the beginning. Simply loosen the chime coil and move it away from the hammer about an 8th of an inch and retighten. As for keeping accurate time, every clock varies some degree and will need adjusting. Not only because of its own internal mechanics, but the environment (temp/elevation) will also take its toll on accuracy. Adjusting the pendulum's weight is covered in the book, and can take several days before you get it just right. Once you make an adjustment, one should wait 24 hours before checking how much of a difference that change made, and you may need to make another. Once it's done, that's pretty much it.Edit to add this update:Here it is January 2015 and this clock is still ticking. Still loving it. Through time, I've still had to make a minor weight adjustment here or there - maybe once a year. No big deal to me. I just now am starting to think about readjusting how the hammer hits seeing that it has moved a bit. Again, no big deal. These things need maintenance. I still can't believe I paid as little as I did for it.

Clock needs rewinding every 3 days, not 15 days, and is much too RED.
I only gave this Kassel clock 1 star because, although it is a somewhat attractive wall clock, and once I regulated it it kept very good time, it only ran for about 6 days before stopping and needing to be rewinded. Now, when it is working, it only runs for about 3 days before stopping, and often it stops after a few minutes. I have had the clock for about 6 years and will be ordering a different wall clock soon to replace it. I don't recommend it to anyone. Also, the finish on the wood cabinet is a much more red than I expected, something to consider when deciding whether it will complement your other room furnishings. The photo on the Amazon listing for this clockhttp://www.amazon.com/Beautiful-Kassel-Pendulum-Clock-Glass/dp/B001C4S2KI?ie=UTF8&redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0shows a much more brown than red finish, although I decided to keep the clock. I had a similar wall clock for about 25 years that compared to this one was much more attractive and had a better finish. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't order it, but didn't want the hassle of repacking and returning it. Amazon should verify the finish on the clock and change the illustration that accompanies the listing, as it comes close to being deceptive.

Great if the sound was a "chime"
Edit to say I wish I hadn't let my husband talk me out of returning this. The sound is really unpleassant...getting the time accurate is a problem...Too high a price if you can't get nice chime.....Clock mounted and time set with no problems. Looks fine. There must be different chimes on the clocks as this one could never be described as "mellow" or "beautiful" The half hour chime is tolerable but more than 3 are grating. We may try to do a simple modify. I hate to pay this price and get no chimes.
